What time is midnight?

What time should a Midnight Mass be? Have you ever heard of the Vigil Mass of the Nativity of the Lord? Yes, it exists.

But even that Mass, at 5:30 pm?

We need Sin

Happy 86th birthday to His Eminence Cardinal Jaime Lachica Sin.  We need you but you are no longer with us.

FAKE PRIEST resurfaces

Nag misaMisahan nanaman si "Father" Mark Bunag sa Trece Martires.

He introduces himself as a priest from the Archdiocese of Manila. Bakit kaya? Kasi alam niya na HINDI SIYA PARI.

As early as 2011, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pasig already released a statement WARNING the faithful about this bogus priest.

EPAL Ministers of Holy Cow!

 From a blog reader.

First time ko magawi sa Makati CBD after 2 years at natuwa ako na may 2 chapel na sa area, yung old Greenbelt chapel and the Landmark Chapel (formally known as the Mary, Mother of Hope Chapel) na may Adoration Chapel.

Dismayado lang ako kasi ang nagbubukas/nagtatapos ng Adoration/Exposition eh mga EMHC kahit na katatapos lang nung hapon na Misa.

So there you have it, folks! Another confirmation that the Archdiocese of Manila has lazy priests, and because of that, we have EPALS running around.

What would Don Bosco do?

Why is there a small crucifix in the  middle of the altar od Don Bosco Parish in Makati?  Is this an attempt to follow the Spirit of the Liturgy of Joseph Ratzinger?

If it is, then it is a failed attempt.
Where a direct common turning towards the east is not possible, the cross can serve as the interior "east" of faith. It should stand in the middle of the altar and be the common point of focus for both priest and praying community.
How can it be a common point if it is so small?

But this is worse. Why is there a fountain beside the Lectern and the Paschal Candle? Is this in reference to Ezekiel? I saw water flowing out from under the threshold of the temple.

I had high hopes for this Parish, but now it is gone.

GULP ALERT

Lent continues with GULP reports. These posts will make you cringe and suffer because of the abuses done in the name of INCULTURATION.

A stone's throw away from Santo Niño de la Paz Chapel, Greenbelt, a Calvary Scene was set up, encouraging prayer and meditation.

BRACE YOURSELVES

I will let these photos sent to this blog by a reader to speak for themselves.

Who is the boss?

The Masters at work from Ferdinan Bautista's wall.

Another inculturated Liturgy being planned? Priests who have Doctorates in Liturgy from S.Anselmo are more competent that this guy, but he bosses everyone around.

He is a true blue (or rainbow?) careerist.

Better Manila Cathedral?

Professor Ferdinand Bautista gives us a glimpse of the brighter and bolder Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.

According to an ABS-CBN online article, the renovated Cathedral is brighter and has 4 ambiance options.

They have turned the seat of the See of Manila into a theater!

And seeing the flat screen televisions in the picture above makes me cringe!

I think I know what will happen next: palayok censers, liturgical dancing, and more performances for the enjoyment of the faithful.

GULP: The Chancellor

According to Pope Saint John Paul II, abuses 'contribute to the obscuring of the Catholic faith and doctrine concerning this wonderful sacrament' (Ecclesia de Eucharistia, n. 10 page 439)

Why then is the Chancellor of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila, Rev. Fr. Jun Coronel Sescon disobeying the Church he professes to love?

The Magisterium of Holy Mother Church is clear:It is not to be tolerated that some Priests take upon themselves the right to compose their own Eucharistic Prayers…

Vicesimus quintus annus n. 13

or to change the same texts approved by the Church, or to introduce others composed by private individuals

Inaestimabile donum n. 5

The reprobated practice by which Priests, Deacons or the faithful here and there alter or vary at will the texts of the Sacred Liturgy that they are charged to pronounce, must cease. For in doing thus, they render the celebration of the Sacred Liturgy unstable, and not infrequently distort the authentic meaning of the Liturgy

Redemptionis Sacramentum n. 59

I ask again, why?

*            *            *

I call on His Eminence, Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, D.D., S.Th.D. to 'root out this and other such abuses because the regulation of the Liturgy depends on the bishop..' and because 'the life in Christ of his faithful people in some sense is derived from and depends on him'. (Second Vatican Council, Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy Sacrosanctum Concilium, 22, 1)

SAVE US, CARDINAL!

GUESS WHAT

Carlita posted this old image of the Manila Cathedral last Sunday.

What do you notice?

What does it have in common with this.

Let me rephrase my question: WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE IMAGES?

ANSWER?

Watch this!

I will not serve!

As we approach the beginning and end of the week, Sunday, let me direct you to the wonderful 36-page Pastoral Letter of the Archbishop-Emeritus of Manila, Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales, D.D entitled Without Sunday We Cannot Live: A Pastoral Letter on the Sunday Celebration of the Eucharist issued in 2009.

Unfortunately, there is no online copy of that Pastoral Letter. It should be here, but the link is broken.  We can find traces of it at the Arkham website, at the Monk's Hobbit and from this very blog.

In this Pastoral Letter, Cardinal Rosales decreed on page 17, #28 that:

We therefore wish to continue the practice of reserving this ministry (altar servers. sic) to young boys, in order to introduce them to the life and ministry of the Church.

Now, explain THIS.

Taken from a parish in the heart of Manila itself.

It's funny, but the female altar servers (sic) try so much to look like males with their bundled up hairs. So why get them in the first place?

Why disobey your bishop in the first, first place?

An Evening with the Cardinal

On his 12th year as a bishop, and 2nd year as Archbishop of Manila, a fund-raising concert for the RCAM housing project.

Last year, it was for the Manila Cathedral's restoration.

The Benedictine Style Altar Arrangement

Seen at the "Solemn Consecration and Dedication" of San Pedro Apostol Parish in the Diocese of San Pablo Laguna.

It's funny how this kind of arrangement is discouraged by Jennifer and her minions. They say only what is needed for the Mass should be on the altar.

What about a projector? Hahaha!

Carol of the Bells

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Manila is scheduled to re-open on or before December 9, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

I am privy to some reports that the interior of the historic Cathedral underwent inculturation or if I may say so, DESTRUCTION, but I will not take away from Jennifer that privilege of informing the Catholic faithful about it.

So, in the meantime, here are some images of the restored Cathedral bells of the Minor Basilica.

Day of Lament and Hope: Solidality in Prayer

This Saturday, November 16, is a day of PENANCE, RECOLLECTION AND FASTING in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila.
