Italian blog notices the illegal Misa ng Bayang Pilipino

In it, the blog noticed that despite not getting the approval of the Holy See, some bishops (notably our dear Cardinal Tagle) and our "expert - world class" professional liturgists keep on celebrating the Misa ng Bayang Pilipino.

While these liturgists of the Chupungcan school openly deride and prevent the celebration of the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite which was given universal indult by Pope Benedict XVI....they openly promote, celebrate and encourage people to celebrate the ILLEGAL Misa ng Bayang Pilipino.

They are openly calling for LITURGICAL DISSENT which they have been doing for the past four decades.

Make this you war cry against these liturgical dissidents.

BREAKING NEWS: Conservative Opus Dei bishop removed by Pope Francis!

(Reuters) - Pope Francis has dismissed a Paraguayan bishop accused of protecting a priest suspected of sexually abusing young people, the Vatican said on Thursday. sacking followed a Vatican investigation of the bishop, the diocese and its seminaries, said the statement, which gave no details.

Vatican sources said the bishop had refused to resign after the investigation and reports of irregularities in his diocese and clashes between the conservative Livieres Plano and other bishops in the country. [The reporter makes it appear that the sacking is caused by two things one of them is Plano IS conservative.]

The Argentinian-born pontiff has vowed zero tolerance of clerics who abuse minors, after church scandals in several countries over many years. Last May, Francis called such abuse an "ugly crime" and likened it to "a Satanic mass".

The Ciudad del Este diocese said in a statement that accusations that he lacked unity with the other bishops of Paraguay were "unfounded" but that he would obey the pope's order. The diocese's statement did not mention the allegations that he had protected the priest accused of sexual abuse.

The Vatican's ambassador in Paraguay, Archbishop Eliseo Ariotti, told reporters in the capital Asuncion it would be up to the new administrator of the diocese to make decisions regarding the priest accused of sexual abuse.

Ariotti said that as part of the disciplinary procedure against Livieres Plano, the bishop would not be allowed to say mass in public but only in private.

According to reports in Catholic media while the Vatican investigation was in progress, Livieres Plano had promoted a priest accused of sexual abuse while serving in the United States.


Livieres Plano had defended both himself and the priest, saying the charges were unfounded, Catholic media have reported.

The bishop was a member of the conservative Roman Catholic group Opus Dei and often clashed with more liberal clerics, according to the reports.

The Vatican said Pope Francis had taken the "onerous decision" to remove Livieres Plano after careful examination of the results of the Vatican investigation.

SNAP, a U.S.-based victims' group which has often called on the Vatican to discipline bishops suspected of covering up abuse, said it was "encouraged" by the move. It said Livieres Plano had "protected and promoted a credibly accused sex offender cleric"., a U.S. resource center on sexual abuse in the church, called the move "bold" but said the Vatican should say if he had been "fired primarily because of his wanton disregard for the safety of young people" or because of his divisive behavior in his diocese. [They have a point.]

The dismissal of the Paraguayan bishop came two days after the pope approved the arrest in the Vatican of a former archbishop accused of paying for sex with children while he was a papal ambassador in the Dominican Republic.


Pray for our bishops.  Stop making them into soap opera stars.

They are not.

They are pastors.  And they must be pastoring, not crying on TV or talking in every retreat or forum.

So.....the pope is out to sack incompetent bishops or bishops who transfer erring priests, eh?

It seems observers are seeing the deep reason for the "firing"

Livieres was named bishop of Ciudad del Este in 2004 and immediately disturbed other more progressive bishops in Paraguay by opening his own seminary, following a more orthodox line than the main seminary in the capital, Asuncion. Paraguay's bishops are known for their progressive bent in a poor country where liberation theology found fertile ground.

Relations between Livieres and the rest of Paraguay's bishops worsened when he got into a public spat with the then-archbishop of Asuncion, whom he accused of being gay.


There was no reference in the Vatican statement that Livieres' removal had anything to do with Urrutigoity. [A priest accused of sex abuse but the bishop accepted in his diocese.] Rather, the Vatican spoke of the need to maintain unity among Paraguay's bishops, suggesting that political and ideological issues were of far greater concern to Rome and that Urrutigoity's past was a secondary factor.

As a result, the removal underscored the deep ideological shift in the Catholic Church with Francis in charge. Vatican watchers say it is highly unlikely that Pope Benedict XVI would have removed either Livieres or the "bling bishop," since both had strong supporters among the more conservative prelates in Rome who appreciated their firm orthodoxy in the face of opposition from more progressive parts of the church.

Urrutigoity had been a member of the schismatic, traditionalist Society of St. Pius X. After leaving the society, he joined the Scranton diocese, where he founded a priestly society where the pre-Vatican II old Latin Mass was celebrated. In 2004, Scranton Bishop Joseph Martino suppressed the society, citing financial instability and allegations of sexual misconduct against Urrutigoity.

And the bishop does this.

"Liturgical" bishop is now archbishop of Chicago

Some lunatic CAPS LOCK loving charlatan of a theologian and a simpleton in argumentation, would obviously be frothing in the mouth when he/she reads this post.

So might as well, give him/her a shout out...

Let the statements of the new archbishop of Chicago, Archbishop Blaise Cupich be the judge of his character shall we?


Perhaps the most noticeable result of this new emphasis on the communal nature of the Church and its witness of solidarity came with the development of new designs by Church architects.

[Oh yes!  Like this "development".]

Their plans for renovations and new churches gave greater attention to the needs of the assembly as it gathered and worshiped as the Body of Christ. [What needs?  I guess the Council Fathers talked about that didn't they?  The need to make things inside the church less "churchy" and more drabby.]

In particular, the design and location of the altar was changed to reflect this. Once distanced from the people and in an area off-limits to them, the altar was now to be designed and situated so that people could understand that at Mass, Christ takes the initiative. He, in the symbol of the altar, gathers the people around as members of His Body to join in His offering of praise to the Father.  [Because the High Altar of st. Peter's Basilica, is too far from the people, so we used Italian instead of Latin so people can "understand" the Mass.   But wait.  The Mass now IS in the vernacular and the High Altar of St. Peter's remain where it has been for centuries.  And....and....the portable altar used in papal Masses in St. Peter's square is....uhm....near?.....the people?  So, the bishop was saying that to make things more understandable to the people we need to bring the altar closer to the people?  If the altar is too far, people would not recognize that Christ is taking the initiative?  Like this one below.]

To move ahead in this area, and make the proclamation of the Gospel more effective, the active promotion of Christian unity had to become part of the Church’s self-understanding of what it means to be faithful to Christ.  [Uh-huh.]

As a result, Catholics were encouraged to gather with our “separated brothers and sisters” in prayer and non-Eucharistic forms of worship. [Last I read, SOMEONE just wants to pick a fight with them and CALL THEM names.  Not pray pray with them.]  In this new ecumenical environment, various liturgical reforms considered at the Council of Trent but rejected lest they be interpreted as a compromise to those attacking the Church (e.g., Communion from the cup and Mass in the vernacular), could now be reassessed on their own merits[Yeah like this kind.]

[Because receiving Communion this way is baaadd for your soul....and not ecumenical...]

The Church also faced the challenges of adapting to the changes in the world order in those times. The world was no longer going to be dominated by the West. Colonialism had given way to the emergence of new nations in Asia, Africa and South America. [The Church spread to the corners of the globe without thinking about the West - East divide.]

The Council responded by calling the Church to a new openness toward these non-western cultures, particularly when it came to worship. [Did the Church say that in the Constitution on the Liturgy Sacrosanctum Concilium?  Nope.]  The Church now considered it important to pursue inculturation. [Try finding the word 'inculturation' in SC.  Hit control "f", you won't find it because the Council Fathers did not even think about this.  And as far as I could remember, the inculturated Mass, Misa ng Bayang Pilipino is STILL ILLEGAL.] This meant reexamining and being open to how the spirituality of these cultures and traditions could legitimately contribute to the worship of Catholics in these emerging nations and to the universal Church. The former rule of strict and rigid uniformity in the liturgy now gave way to an openness to legitimate diversity.  [No wonder we have this kind of "Mass".]

Finally, perhaps the most serious challenge facing the Church was internal, the need to invigorate the Christian life of each individual believer. Many bishops were becoming increasingly concerned that a good number of Catholics were questioning the significance of the Christian faith and religious practice.

Over the centuries, a split developed in this regard. Literally and figuratively, the laity became distanced from the public worship of the Church. The priest did virtually everything.

The rites were in a language unknown to most. The accumulation of ritual actions, many of which had their origins in the royal courts of Europe, made the meaning of rites even less accessible to the common person. The people were reduced to passive attendance as silent spectators.  [yeah, right.  the people were just looking.  They were not praying.  Because active participation

As a result, the sacramental life of the Church was no longer, at least in practice, the primary source of nourishment for the spiritual life of people. [Before Vatican II, people were not pious and religious anymore. That's what he and liberal bishops love to think and preach.] Instead of relying on the transforming power of the Eucharist as the source of their spiritual lives, people did their best to find nourishment in individualistic piety and personal devotions. [People were so into the dark dark dark corners of their lives, people.  Pitiful.]

In view of this, it is not surprising that the bishops called for a renewal of the liturgical life of the Church that would lead to the full, active and conscious participation of the faithful[And so we have these!]

This would require both reform and restoration. The reform began with the call for a return to the noble simplicity of the Roman rite. Those features that had crept in over time had to be removed so that the rites would be short, clear, not weighed down by useless repetitions. [And so we have a Eucharistic Prayer invented in a Roman Tavern!  SOMEONE will be frothing in the mouth again.  Yeah, like Fr. Louis Bouyer was not a member of the Consilium that MADE the NEW Eucharistic Prayer, like there is NO evidence WHATSOEVER that it is from St. Hippolytus!]

The aim was to make sure that ordinary people could understand what is going on without much explanation. [Yeah, like I saw two reporters of TV5, one a graduate of Catholic university De La Salle in Taft, the other in Katipunan avenue which is barely Catholic Ateneo, ask the priest what part he is seeing in the Mass of the Canonization of John Paul II and John XXIII.  It is STILL the Mass.  And they cannot even tell that it was the Offertory procession.  Yeah. The people understand what is going on in the Mass because it is in the vernacular and the people are gathered around the altar.]  But, it was also important to return to those forms of worship which the Church had in its rich treasury of liturgical tradition of the Roman rite.  [Like these?]

This restoration came in a variety of ways: the revival of Holy Week services, [because, according to his wild imagination, there were no Holy Week services before Vatican II so all the people were in the provinces, partying in the beaches and.....oh!  That is today isn't it?] the Rites of Christian Initiation and the Easter Vigil, the reestablishment of the Liturgy of the Word with a greater selection of Scripture readings, the return of ministries by the laity at Mass[The laity had an ANCIENT role in the Mass????  Did I miss something in Theology school or WHAT?!]

These forms and aspects of the Roman rite served the Church well over the ages as a perennial source of nourishment for the spiritual lives of believers and needed to be restored. As a result, when the renewal as reform and restoration took place, the Church was able to honestly say that the reformed Mass was both a witness to an unbroken tradition of the Roman rite and an improvement on the former one (General Instruction of the Roman Missal, 2000, #6).  [Like Eucharistic Prayer II is an "unbroken tradition".  Yeah....right.]


If this is not a case of historical revisionism, then Hitler must deserve a Nobel Peace prize.

Our poor ancestors.  They weren't nourished by the Sacraments then because they just sit on the pews, staring blankly into the sanctuary....

Where did we learn our Faith then?

BREAKING NEWS: First Saint of Sri Lanka!

Pope Francis today signed decrees clearing the way for the canonization of an Indian priest and an Italian religious sister. He also confirmed miracles attributed to the intercessions of an Italian bishop and a Canadian religious sister, pointing to their beatification in the near future.

Blessed Joseph Vaz, an Indian priest of the Oratory of St. Philip Neri, was founder of the Oratory of the Holy Cross of Miracles in Goa (1651-1711). Known as the “Apostle of Ceylon” on account of his evangelization of the Asian island, he was beatified by St. John Paul II in 1995.

Blessed Maria Cristina of the Immaculate Conception (nee Adelaide Brando), was the Italian foundress of the Oblation Sisters of the Holy Sacrament (1856-1906). Remembered for her zeal for God and neighbor, often she would tell her spiritual daughters: "Love of God and of neighbour are two branches that are connected to the same trunk. The love of God gives life to the love of neighbour; and this, in turn, nourishes love towards God".

Meanwhile, the Pope promulgated decrees confirming miracles attributed to the intercessions of Venerable Servant of God Pio Alberto del Corona, Italian professed priest of the Order of Preachers, bishop of San Miniato and founder of the Dominican Sisters of the Holy Spirit (1837-1912); and Venerable Servant of God Marie-Elisabeth Turgeon, Canadian foundress of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary (1840-1881).

The Pope approved the votes of the Ordinary Session of the Cardinal and Bishop Fathers in favour of the canonisation of Blessed Joseph Vaz, the Vatican said. He also decided that a consistory will be convoked shortly for his canonisation and that of Blessed Maria Cristina.

VATICAN CITY – A single mother, people who have been married before and couples who have been living together "in sin" were married by Pope Francis in a taboo-challenging ceremony at the Vatican on Sunday, September 14.

In another signal of the openness of his papacy, Francis asked to marry 40 people from different social backgrounds who would be a realistic sample of modern couples.

Popes very rarely perform marriages – the last one was in 2000.

Marriage "is not an easy road, it's sometimes a contentious trip, but that's life", the pope told the couples, both young and old, as their families gathered for the solemn two-hour ceremony.

"It's normal that couples fight. That always happens, but don't end the day without making peace, even a small gesture is enough," said the pontiff, who donned a red robe for the occasion rather than his usual white[Dear reporter, would you even care to research about liturgical colors?  It was red because it was not about Valentine's Day or because it is about love.  The Mass was held on the feast of the Triumph of the Cross and the liturgical color of the day is red.  Get it?]

One of the couples he married was single mother Gabriella and her partner Guido, whose previous marriage was annulled by an ecclesiastical tribunal.  [So?  What's wrong with that?  The guy is free to marry and there are no canonical impediments to their marriage.  Being a single mother doesn't make you ineligible to contract the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.]

The last time a pope performed a marriage was under the leadership of John Paul II in 2000, and before that in 1994.

It comes three weeks before a major synod of the Catholic Church will discuss the divisive issues of marriage, divorce and conception.

The church ban on allowing divorcees who have remarried to receive communion is one of the key topics up for debate, and resolving deep divisions over the issue inside the church is seen as a key test of Francis' leadership. [It is about the question of allowing people living in sin to receive Holy Communion.  This has nothing to do about these married couples.]

Francis has shown himself more open than his predecessors on the subject of marriage, and has spoken of more realistic attitude to social problems, raising the issue of broken marriages and abandoned women.  [The Holy Father called the attention of the Church to work to bring the lost back to the fold.  His message is always that of mercy.  I have yet to see a radical change in dogma and doctrine done by this Pope before I go gaga like the Williamson wing of the SSPX.]

Last January he baptized the child of a single mother in the Sistine Chapel along with the daughter of a couple who had not been married in a church. –  [Dear reporter, a church marriage certificate isn't needed for a baptism, ok?]

The writer wants to paint a picture that Pope Francis is changing dogma by marrying co-habitating couples.  NOT!

He encouraged co-habitating Catholics to contract the Sacrament instead of continuously living in a sinful state.

This is not something new!

Parishes, Dioceses and Family and Life Ministries have been doing this a loooonnnggg time ago.

Encouraging unmarried Catholics to get married in the Church and a single mother getting his child baptized in the Church, NOT NEW!

Get over it, Wrapper!

Is it permissible to sell relics?

Some say it is ok to sell or "make a donation" for the third class relics.

Says who?

Well, let's ask the law of the Church.

Can. 1190 §1 It is absolutely wrong to sell sacred relics. 

So, why the donation?

P30 for a small card with a small cloth?  I don't like the sound of that

So unless anyone here comes out with a clear definitive statement from the Church that 3rd class relics can be "bought" as long as it is a "donation" and not a "sale", better stop that practice.

The Church law is clear.  Relics are relics. 1st, 2nd, or 3rd class, they are all relics.

And the law is clear.

Relics are not to be sold.
