Vatican II drives people to love the TLM

Silence

Vatican II said it and our chapels and churches do not have it at all.

There is too much noise in our churches.

Too much clapping!

Too much feel good music!

No time to pray and reflect after the readings.

No time to reflect and pray after the homily.

No time to reflect and pray after Holy Communion .

Our churches are noisy!

That is why people who crave for the sacred silence come to worship the Lord through the Traditional Latin Mass.  Read here and here.

Read 1 Kings 19:11-13.

And may this image stuck in your mind.

He prayed not like how we pray today, raised arms, dancing.

He did not.

He retreated into the mountains for the silence.

One year hence

A year ago on this day, Cardinal Bergoglio entered the conclave.  Within 24 hours, Pope Francis emerged on the Loggia.

Before giving 'The City and the World' his blessing, the Pontiff asked the crowd to pray for him.  One year hence, let us continue to pray for our Supreme Pontiff every day.

Do you pray the St. Michael prayer after Mass?

This comes as a great news!

We need to remember that we are a member of the Church Militant and we need to continue our fight against the forces of Satan here on earth, to work out diligently our salvation.

Honestly, I am thankful the CBCP did this.  I am not sure the great Fr. Geny Diwa supports this.  I know for a fact that not a few people at the CBCP Office in Intramuros are grumbling against this prayer...save for a few poor souls who are constantly mocked for being too "Benedict".  No, not Benedictine.  Ha!

***

MANILA, Sept. 26, 2013— The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines has authorized for use of the old St. Michael the Archangel Prayer for recitation after Mass in all churches nationwide. [Hoorah!!!]

In a circular to all the archdioceses and dioceses, the CBCP highly recommends [why not command?  Oh well.  We live in the Vatican II era no, where strong, precise language is a rarity.  Anywho. Better highly recommend it than never, no?]  the recitation of the prayer composed by Leo XIII in 1896 amid the “many situation of trouble and conflict” in the country.

Archbishop Jose Palma, CBCP president, said the prayer is also “very timely” because of recent calamities that brought havoc in various areas and the “escalating” corruption in the government.

“Through this prayer, we invoke St. Michael to defend us and our country against the wickedness and snares of the evil one,” Palma said.

“Michael – which means, “Who is like God” – will win over all the evil attempts to disfigure the face of mankind because God Who is stronger acts in him,” he added.

The Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel:

“St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil; may God rebuke him we humbly pray. And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly hosts, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl upon the earth for the ruin of souls. Amen”. (CBCPNews)

I can hear a lot of groaning among liberals.

"Why would the bishops even bother issuing this kind of directive???"

Oh. yeah..  I heard them said in rectories, chanceries and seminaries over at lunch, dinner...

You hear them talk about the need to address the issue of corruption, destruction of nature, employment issues., migration, etc.  What bothers me the most among these men of God is that they try to analyze these issues with the eyes of men.  They try to look at problems only on the material plane.  I am not saying it is bad.  But what we forget is that there are things in this world that are of moral and spiritual in nature.

We are a Christian country, one of the biggest countries in terms of Catholic population in terms of over all population of a country.  Yet, sadly, we are a country with the highest number of  corruption cases.  I think we can all agree that we have lost the sense of sin, of damnation and of the sacred.  I see this as the reason why we lie, cheat and steal because we have been so engrossed with what is important for ourselves, we forget that this life is nothing but a stage to another life, a preparation to eternity.

We have lost a sense of sin.  Priests forget to tell us about sin, about the social and spiritual dimension of sin.

That is the reason even why some priests don't believe in such things because priests do not see themselves working for a supernatural purpose.  They see themselves just as how Che Guevarra saw himself.

They see Christ as a political hero, a social liberator.

I have posted here time and again how the seminary failed to educate our priests.  Philosophies taught at our seminaries right now are not Thomistic!  They came from atheists who do not think in the realms of the supernatural.  How can you even talk about religion when you have seminarians getting heavily influenced by Marx and Nietzsche!

How can even expect them to talk about religion when they think against religion?!

This is where it all started and this is the reason why there are oppositions in the parish level to pray this prayer.

Question to Chupungcan liturgists out there!

Did Sacrosanctum Concilium order Catholics to stop praying this prayer after Mass?

Why so mad of this prayer huh?

Things you must do before, during and after the Mass.

I can add a few more here like:

1.  Dress properly.  Women, if you can, please wear a veil.

2.  Sit properly.  Most men sit at church as if they were at the park.

3.  Revere the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.  Receive Him on the tongue and kneeling if you can.

4.  If you bring your little kids to Mass, please make sure they behave.  If they can't, stay out of the church or chapel or in a place where you won't be able to disturb other people.

4.  DON'T CLAP AFTER MASS.  It feels like you are happy things are over.  Heed what the priest or deacon says: "The Mass is ended. Go in peace to love and serve the Lord."  or "Go and announce the Gospel of the Lord."  or "Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life."

5.  Pray the Prayer to St. Michael.  The Liturgical revolution for no reason at all took this out.  Bl. John Paul II recommended that we pray this prayer again.

PS:  Bring your cellphone and camera.  Record any liturgical abuse you see.  Post it on YouTube or Facebook and let us share the video to everyone.  Time to show the name of the liturgical abusers and make them answer to the proper authorities.

Worldwide Eucharistic Adoration on June 2!

June 2 is Corpus Christi in the new liturgical calendar!

***

Pope Francis will lead a worldwide hour of Eucharistic adoration on Sunday, June 2, the Vatican has announced.

On that date, cathedrals all across the world will hold an hour of Eucharistic adoration at the same time, inviting the faithful to pray for the Pope’s intentions. The worldwide session of adoration will take place from 5 to 6 Sunday afternoon in Rome, and cathedrals worldwide will synchronize their vigils to match that time. The Pope has asked the universal Church to pray for two intentions during the hour of adoration:
  1. For the Church spread throughout the world and united today in the adoration of the Most Holy Eucharist as a sign of unity. May the Lord make her ever more obedient to hearing his Word in order to stand before the world ‘ever more beautiful, without stain or blemish, but holy and blameless.’ That through her faithful announcement, the Word that saves may still resonate as the bearer of mercy and may increase love to give full meaning to pain and suffering, giving back joy and serenity.

  2. For those around the world who still suffer slavery and who are victims of war, human trafficking, drug running, and slave labor. For the children and women who are suffering from every type of violence. May their silent scream for help be heard by a vigilant Church so that, gazing upon the crucified Christ, she may not forget the many brothers and sisters who are left at the mercy of violence. Also, for all those who find themselves in economically precarious situations, above all for the unemployed, the elderly, migrants, the homeless, prisoners, and those who experience marginalization. That the Church’s prayer and its active nearness give them comfort and assistance in hope and strength and courage in defending human dignity.
The worldwide hour of Eucharistic adoration is one of two initiatives for the Year of Faith, announced on May 28 by the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization. The other initiative is Evangelium Vitae Day, which will be observed June 15-16. Archbishop Rino Fisichella, the president of the Pontifical Council, outlined plans for the observance.

On Saturday evening, June 14, a candlelight procession will advance down the Via della Conciliazione into St. Peter’s Square, with participants from all over the world, calling attention to the dignity of human life. Earlier that day, participants will visit the tomb of St. Peter, with an opportunity for Confession and adoration in the Vatican basilica. On Sunday morning Pope Francis will preside at Mass with all participants.

The Morning Prayer of Benedict XVI

This is the prayer that the Holy Father Benedict XVI mentioned in his last General Audience in St. Peter's Square on February 27.

May it be our prayer as well.

O My God, I adore You and I love You with all my heart.
I thank You for having created me, for having made me
a Christian and for having watched over me this day.
Pardon me for the evil I have done this day;
and if I have done any good, deign to accept it.
Watch over me while I take my rest and deliver me from danger.
May Your grace be always with me. Amen.

How visious anti-Catholics REALLY ARE.

The photo says it all!

From UCANEWS.com

***

Cheju diocese has demanded an official apology after about 20 riot police disrupted a Mass yesterday on Jeju island. The police were clearing a path for a cement truck to enter the construction site of a controversial new naval base.  [They desecrated a Mass just so a TRUCK can enter!!!  Imagine if they do the same thing and either Obama or Lady Gaga were talking or performing!  Imagine the online rants!]

Father Bartholomew Mun Jung-hyun, who was presiding over the Mass at the gates of the site, was knocked to the ground while administering communion. It is claimed that a policeman also trod on the Eucharist.  [You can see from the photo above.  Makes me wonder though why the priest was holding a paten.  Might be because he placed the Hosts there and there was no ciborium available?  Maybe.]

Father John Ko Buyeong-soo, president of Cheju diocese’s Committee for Justice and Peace, visited the site shortly after the disturbance. [A Catholic News Organization calls this sacrilege, "disturbance".  Ain't that disturbing, huh?]

He told ucanews.com that he would demand an explanation and an apology from police.

“To step on or damage the Eucharist is an insult to Catholics,” he said.  [IT IS A SACRILEGE!!!!!!]

The Jeju Provincial Police Agency yesterday issued a press statement in which it denied any wrongdoing.  [So the photo above was staged?]

“There was no violent force throwing Fr Mun to the ground or stepping on the Eucharist,” the statement said.

Woo Jeong-sik, chief inspector of Jeju police, later said it remained unclear whether Fr Mun was knocked down and added: “the policeman who allegedly stepped on the Eucharist said he did not do so.”  [because the policeman did not know that he was stepping on the Eucharist?]

But Cheong Seon-nyo, head of the Gangjeong mission station, told ucanews.com yesterday that she was with Fr Mun when the incident occurred.

“I clearly saw a policeman step on the Eucharist that had fallen to the ground,” she said. [there is a witness.]

The construction of the naval base on Jeju island, which will become home to a new fleet of 20 warships and other vessels, has sparked vigorous protests from local residents, environmental activists and religious leaders.

Protesters say the project would cause irreparable damage to the ecosystem of the island, which is a popular tourism destination and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Why can't we Catholic react the same way the Muslims do when the name of their prophet is ridiculed or their book is desecrated?

NO.  Not xactly HOW they do it.

Without the threats to kill..

Without the threats to burn...

And without the threats....and uhm, without the uh...

So, ok.

We don't react like the Muslims, so we must not react like them.

BUT we need a more concrete action that THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN!

IN the meantime, please pray this:
O Jesus, my Savior and Redeemer, Son of the living God, behold, we kneel before Thee and offer Thee our reparation; we would make amends for all the blasphemies uttered against Thy holy name, for all the injuries done to Thee in the Blessed Sacrament, for all the irreverence shown toward Thine immaculate Virgin Mother, for all the calumnies and slanders spoken against Thy spouse, the holy Catholic and Roman Church. O Jesus, who hast said: "If you ask the Father anything in My name, He will give it to you", we pray and beseech Thee for all our brethren who are in danger of sin; shield them from every temptation to fall away from the true faith; save those who are even now standing on the brink of the abyss; to all of them give light and knowledge of the truth, courage and strength for the conflict with evil, perseverance in faith and active charity! For this do we pray, most merciful Jesus, in Thy name, unto God the Father, with whom Thou livest and reignest in the unity of the Holy Spirit world without end. Amen.

O happy fault! Adam fell, a sweet and wonderful Savior rising!

Exult, let them exult, the hosts of heaven,
exult, let Angel ministers of God exult,
let the trumpet of salvation sound aloud our mighty King’s triumph!
Be glad, let earth be glad, as glory floods her,
ablaze with light from her eternal King,
let all corners of the earth be glad,
knowing an end to gloom and darkness.
Rejoice, let Mother Church also rejoice,
arrayed with the lighting of his glory,
let this holy building shake with joy,
filled with the mighty voices of the peoples.

(Therefore, dearest friends,
standing in the awesome glory of this holy light,
invoke with me, I ask you, the mercy of God almighty,
that he who has been pleased to number me, though unworthy, among the Levites,
may pour into me his light unshadowed,
that I may sing this candle’s perfect praises.)

(V/: The Lord be with you.
R/: And with your spirit.)
V/: Lift up your hearts.
R/: We lift them up to the Lord.
V/: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
R/: It is right and just.

It is truly right and just,
with ardent love of mind and heart,
and with devoted service of our voice,
to acclaim our God invisible, the almighty Father,
and Jesus Christ, our Lord, his Son, his Only Begotten.
Who for our sake paid Adam’s debt to the eternal Father,
and pouring out his own dear Blood
wiped clean the record of our ancient sinfulness.
These then are the feasts of Passover,
in which is slain the Lamb, the one true Lamb,
whose Blood anoints the doorposts of believers.

This is the night, when once you led our forebears,
Israel’s children, from slavery in Egypt
and made them pass dry-shod through the Red Sea.
This is the night that with a pillar of fire banished the darkness of sin.
This is the night that even now, throughout the world,
sets Christian believers apart from worldly vices and from the gloom of sin,
lending them to grace, and joining them to his holy ones.
This is the night when Christ broke the prison-bars of death,
and rose victorious from the underworld.
Our birth would have been no gain, had we not been redeemed.

O wonder of your humble care for us!
O love, O charity beyond all telling,
to ransom a slave you gave away your Son!
O truly necessary sin of Adam, destroyed completely by the Death of Christ!
O happy fault that earned so great, so glorious a Redeemer!
O truly blessed night, worthy alone to know the time and hour
when Christ rose from the underworld!

This is the night of which it is written:
The night shall be as bright as day, dazzling is the night for me, and full of gladness.
The sanctifying power of this night dispels all wickedness,
washes faults away, restores innocence to the fallen, and joy to mourners,
drives out hatred, fosters concord, and brings down the mighty.
On this, your night of grace, O holy Father,
accept this candle, a solemn offering,
the work of bees and of your servants’ hands,
an evening sacrifice of praise, this gift from your most holy Church.

But now we know the praises of this pillar,
which glowing fire ignites for God’s honour,
a fire into many flames divided,
yet never dimmed by sharing of its light,
for it is fed by melting wax,
drawn out by mother bees to build a torch so precious.

O truly blessed night,
when things of heaven are wed to those of earth,
and divine to the human.
Therefore, O Lord, we pray you that this candle,
hallowed to the honour of your name,
may persevere undimmed,
to overcome the darkness of this night.
Receive it as a pleasing fragrance,
and let it mingle with the lights of heaven.

May this flame be found still burning by the Morning Star:
the one Morning Star who never sets, Christ your Son,
who coming back from death’s domain
has shed his peaceful light on humanity
and lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen

The Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas

"Every judgement of conscience, be it right or wrong, be it about things evil in themselves or morally indifferent, is obligatory, in such wise that he who acts against his conscience always sins."

"Clearly the person who accepts the Church as an infallible guide will believe whatever the Church teaches."

May St. Thomas Aquinas, one of the brilliant minds the world has ever known be an example for all of us who pride over our limited knowledge over the greatness of God who created the universe.

Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas

Grant me, O Lord my God,
a mind to know you,
a heart to seek you,
wisdom to find you,
conduct pleasing to you,
faithful perseverance in waiting for you,
and a hope of finally embracing you.

Amen.

The Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes

Hail Mary, poor and humble Woman, Blessed by the Most High! Virgin of hope, dawn of a new era, We join in your song of praise, to celebrate the Lord’s mercy, to proclaim the coming of the Kingdom and the full liberation of humanity.

Hail Mary, lowly handmaid of the Lord, Glorious Mother of Christ! Faithful Virgin, holy dwelling-place of the Word, Teach us to persevere in listening to the Word, and to be docile to the voice of the Spirit, attentive to his promptings in the depths of our conscience and to his manifestations in the events of history.

Hail Mary, Woman of sorrows, Mother of the living! Virgin spouse beneath the Cross, the new Eve, Be our guide along the paths of the world. Teach us to experience and to spread the love of Christ, to stand with you before the innumerable crosses on which your Son is still crucified.

Hail Mary, woman of faith, First of the disciples! Virgin Mother of the Church, help us always to account for the hope that is in us, with trust in human goodness and the Father’s love. Teach us to build up the world beginning from within: in the depths of silence and prayer, in the joy of fraternal love, in the unique fruitfulness of the Cross.

Holy Mary, Mother of believers, Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.

Amen.

(This prayer was said during the Blessed John Paul II's August 15, 2004 visit to Lourdes, France. The Pope asked her among other things to "be our guide along the paths of the world.")

It's First Friday

In case you forget.

Go to Confession, assist at Mass, receive Holy Communion and make an Act of Reparation to the Sacred Heart.

And if your work goes in the way, make sure you drop by your church, chapel or oratory and pray before the Blessed Sacrament and pray the Act.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, to Thee I consecrate and offer up my person and my life, my actions, trials, and sufferings, that my entire being may henceforth only be employed in loving, honoring and glorifying Thee. This is my irrevocable will, to belong entirely to Thee, and to do all for Thy love, renouncing with my whole heart all that can displease Thee.

I take Thee, O Sacred Heart, for the sole object of my love, the protection of my life, the pledge of my salvation, the remedy of my frailty and inconstancy, the reparation for all the defects of my life, and my secure refuge at the hour of my death. Be Thou, O Most Merciful Heart, my justification before God Thy Father, and screen me from His anger which I have so justly merited. I fear all from my own weakness and malice, but placing my entire confidence in Thee, O Heart of Love, I hope all from Thine infinite Goodness. Annihilate in me all that can displease or resist Thee. Imprint Thy pure love so deeply in my heart that I may never forget Thee or be separated from Thee.
I beseech Thee, through Thine infinite Goodness, grant that my name be engraved upon Thy Heart, for in this I place all my happiness and all my glory, to live and to die as one of Thy devoted servants.

Amen. (St. Margaret Mary Alacoque)

My first post for 2012

Let this be your Christian "mantra" throughout the year.

Share...print it...frame it!

This is the actual photograph of the page page of her own breviary, where St. Teresa of Avila, one of my patrons, (aka Sr. Teresa de Jesus OCD) wrote her famous poem Nada Te Turbe.

Let this be our prayer for 2012.

And not from some feng shui and astrology hacks!

God bless us all!

Here are the words in Spanish:

Nada te turbe;
nada te espante;
todo se pasa;
Dios no se muda,
la paciencia
todo lo alcanza.
Quien a Dios tiene,
nada le falta.
Solo Dios basta.

And here is the English translation. NO 1970s ICEL involved. Ha!

May nothing disturb you.
May nothing astonish you.
Everything passes.
God does not go away.
Patience
can attain anything.
He who has God within,
does not lack anything.
God is enough!

***

Please say this prayer, and an Ave and a Memorare, for me, as I am going through a very tough decision this coming weeks and months. Also include my wife and kids in your prayers as they will be greatly affected by my decision.

It's about my job. Now you know why this is my first post.

God bless us all!

The Prayer of Jabez?

I have heard about this a long time ago.  It is heavily promoted in the "Prosperity Gospel" circles, as it can bring you, uhm, prosperity and riches.  Sounds like a magic incantation to me.

Well, here is the prayer.

If you ask me, why have that when you can have this!

Makes me wonder why these Born-Again Christians keep on promoting the other prayer when this one was taught to us none other than the Lord Himself!

Never heard these supposedly Bible believing Christians promote the Lord's Prayer.

KC pray novena prayer to JPII in defense of life

MANILA, Oct. 22, 2011—The Knights of Columbus in the Philippines are united in praying with Blessed John Paul II to Mary, Mother of Life, for the promotion of the “Culture of Life.”

Upon the invitation of the president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines and Tandag Bishop Nereo Odchimar the K of C prayed the novena prayer to Pope John Paul II in time for the celebration of his feast day on Oct. 22.  [today is his feast day!]

“May we invite therefore all our sisters and brothers, who in one way or another were touched by the charisma of Blessed Pope John Paul II, to say this novena prayer,” Bishop Odchimar said in his circulated invitation.

The K of C at the main office conducted the novena prayer with the help of its Spiritual Committee in-charge Ms. Resty Yenzon from Oct. 13-21.

The nine-day prayer ended with a Eucharistic celebration at the San Agustin Church on Oct. 21.

“It is our ardent desire that through the intercession of the amiable Pope, the Reproductive Health Agenda would not pass and be entirely scrapped in the Philippine Legislature,” Bishop Odchimar added.

The late Pope John Paul II was beatified on May 1, 2011 (Divine Mercy Sunday) by Pope Benedict XVI at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, witnessed by a multitude of the faithful.

Blessed John Paul II is also known as “Pope of Life” because of his passionate teachings on the defense of human life, especially in his Encyclical Evangelium Vitae (The Gospel of Life), which provides a strong foundation for the defense of human life and the promotion of the “culture of life” against the “culture of death.” (KC News)

Unfortunately, I do not have a copy of the novena yet.  I will post it here as soon as I get hold of a copy.
