The officials of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and the spokesmen of Pres. Aquino call it "Mitsubishi Pajero".  The vehicle shown here is being used by the Archdiocese to help Muslim and Christian residents of the city who were affected by the massive flooding caused by water hyacinths clogging the Rio Grande de Mindanao.  It was used to give potable water to the residents.

And the ilk of Carlita Celdran and the Filipino FreeDumbers and Catholic-bashing-atheists (who turned atheists to look smart) call these vehicles "luxury vehicles".

Was I living under a rock for a while and I did not realize that Mitsubishi motors released a van named Pajero?  And when was riding in a van a luxury?

PCSO and presidential spokesmen...bunch of idiots.

Carlita..FreeDumbers...atheists, pray to your Almighty Brain.  Oh, it cannot answer you!  It just had a massive hemorrhage trying to think which is which.

The PCSO officials were grilled big time by the senators for who coming up with the term Pajero Bishops when there were no Pajeros given?  And why is the present PCSO giving donations to other denominations as well but they are not being investigated?

And to top it all off, the Commission on Audit did not mention anything about Pajeros?

ON Sunday, June 26, several Catholic churches in the Philippines will hold a second collection during Masses for Mindanao relief efforts.  [I am sure that after learning of this effort, other dioceses and prelatures will soon follow suit.]

At least four pastoral jurisdictions are set to hold a second collection including the Archdiocese of Jaro, Dioceses of Surigao, Marbel, and the Prelature of Basilan.  [Uhm...Manila?  Do I see your hand?  Ah, yes.  Pondo ng Pinoy!]

Archbishop Angel Lagdameo of Jaro said he will write a circular letter for a second collection to help Mindanao.

Likewise, Bishop Martin Jumoad of Basilan said he will ask his parish priests to make a second collection for the people of Cotabato.

Bishop Dinualdo Gutierrez of Marbel said holding a second collection is already their usual practice in Mindanao whenever a diocese experiences calamity.  [The Diocese of Marbel is a suffragan of the Cotabato Archdiocese.]

Bishop Gutierrez added that upon learning of the massive flooding, they immediately sent money collected for their Alay Kapwa Sunday to the Archdiocese of Cotabato.

Bishop Antonieto Cabajog of Surigao said that their Alay Kapwa Sunday is always ready to help other diocese in times of calamities.

Anti-Catholicism is arguably the oldest bias in the history of the American people. [And the oldest here in the country if you count the Freemasons, and the youngest if you count the Freedumbers aka Freethinkers.] Or so Arthur M. Schlesinger Sr. — who had no dog in the fight — once told the dean of U.S. Catholic historians, Fr. John Tracy Ellis. Over the centuries, however, anti-Catholicism in America has taken on several forms.

In its classic New England iteration, anti-Catholicism was shaped by Protestant and, later, Enlightenment-rationalist assumptions. Both were neatly summarized in a letter from John Adams to his wife, Abigail, written during the First Continental Congress after Mr. Adams had undertaken an anthropological expedition through the streets of Philadelphia:

This afternoon, led by curiosity and good company, I strolled away to mother church, or rather grandmother church. I mean the Romish chapel. . . . [The] entertainment was to me most awful and affecting: the poor wretches fingering their beads, chanting Latin, not a word of which they understood; their pater nosters and ave Marias; their holy water; their crossing themselves perpetually; their bowing to the name of Jesus, whenever they hear it; their bowings, kneelings, and genuflections before the altar. The dress of the priest was rich white lace. His pulpit was velvet and gold. Adams, it should be noted, contributed handsomely to the building of a Catholic church in Boston in the years after the Revolution; the passionate support for the cause of American independence displayed by such Federalist leaders as Charles Carroll of Carrolton had, evidently, caused the Sage of Quincy to reconsider. But in that 1774 letter to Abigail, he neatly summed up an indictment against Catholicism that would show remarkable staying power in the United States over the centuries: Catholicism is superstition; [like what inculturated liturgists want to call the TLM.] Catholics are ill-educated, [like what that old Jesuit constitutionalist who is shy to admit that he is pro-RH. and some of his Jesuit confreres, but not all.] priest-ridden boobies; the Church is a vast, money-making machine that sucks the lifeblood of the poor and ignorant; [like what Angsioco, that pro-abortion witch wrote.] no educated person could possibly take the doctrines of the Church seriously. [like what the Freedumbers say.]

KC Caloocan Council Stands up for Life

MANILA, June 14, 2011―The Knights of Columbus is holding a symposium on the reproductive health bill aimed to counteract widespread misinformation that prevents citizens to make sound judgments on the issue.

"We are led to believe that the country is overpopulated when it is not. We are led to believe that contraceptives are safe and moral, which they are not. We are led to believe that maternal deaths are caused by non-access to contraception when in fact all we need to do is to improve basic medical services," said Rommel Lopez, council lecturer and recently elected Deputy Grand Knight of his council of the Knights of Columbus in Kalookan diocese.  [led to believe.  the keywords folks!]

Lopez believes that the division which this piece of legislation is causing among Filipinos―and even among some Catholics―is due to misinformation, hence resulting in varied positions regarding the bill.

"When we heard about the ongoing debates in media about the RH and how the issue drives a wedge among conservative and liberal or so-called ‘cafeteria Catholics,’ the Knights of Columbus decided it was high time that we informed the public―especially the ordinary Mass-going Catholics―of what the RH Bill meant for all of us," he explained.  [this is the Knights advocacy, the protection of the family and life.  This is the reason the Order of the Knights of Columbus was founded.]

"And so we thought of organizing an event where we could invite speakers who can talk authoritatively about what the RH bill is for Filipinos and for Catholics. We hope that by holding this symposium, we can educate our parishioners about the bill and the medical, social, moral and spiritual dangers it poses to a Filipino Catholic," Lopez said  [That is why we need to attend folks!  I wonder if they have security to prevent the FreeDumbers from coming.]

Dubbed "Stand up for Life!" the symposium brings together experts on the RH bill and related issues to tackle the various aspects involved: House Representatives Roilo Golez (Parañaque) and Mitos Magsaysay (Zambales), and Dr. Lissa Poblete and Dr. Gabby Dy Liacco both of Filipinos for Life.

The symposium on House Bill 4244 or The Responsible Parenthood, Reproductive Health and Population and Development Act of 2011, is slated on June 18, from 1:00 to 6:00 pm at St. Mary’s Academy in Grace Park, Caloocan City.

"All of us Filipinos want the best for our country," Lopez said. "Unfortunately, some of the worst things that happened to the world happened with man having the best of intentions. [But] if people are informed of what the RH bill is and what it really wants to accomplish, then people would definitely come out and let their voices be heard that they do not want a bill that is redundant and does not respect their faith and the freedom to choose."

"Stand up for Life!" is spearheaded by the Knights of Columbus Our Lady of Grace Council 5617, in cooperation with the Our Lady of Grace Parish Ministry on Family and Life, the Diocesan Ministry on Family and Life, St. Mary's Academy of Caloocan City, and Filipinos for Life. (Diana Uichanco)

A friend who is a missionary in Hong Kong went to the mainland to visit some of his friends.  During one of his visits to a farming village, some members of the Communist Party went to distribute relief goods.  Maybe they just came from a natural calamity.  He was surprised to hear what some of the folks said after they received their goods "Send our thanks to Chairman Mao.  He is such a good man!"

Good heavens!  Its been year since that mad man died!  And people in China are still left out of the dark and they are led to believe that the lunatic is still alive and in control of the country!

That is how the Communist controlled the people.

That is how the Nazis brainwashed the people of Germany leading to believe that any non-Aryan is a stain to the human race.

That is how the pro-RH people does it:

• that overpopulation or too much people is a curse to development
• that people must not be taught how to discipline themselves when it comes to sex because we are such a horny creature.
• that the fertilized human egg is nothing but blood that does not deserve protection and care in a humane society.

And they still think that the Right to Life is not the basic form of human right.

An exorcist speaks up

Here is an excerpt from the interview conducted with Fr. Gary Thomas, the exorcist whose real life story became the inspiration for the movie "The Rite."  You can read the full interview here.

Velasquez: Do you have any stories to tell of exorcisms?

Fr Gary: There was a situation in Rome once with a young woman who walked in speaking Italian to me, my exorcist trainer walked in and blessed her with holy water and she literally began screaming and picked up the chair, and was going to throw it at him. [If psychiatrists and Freedumbers were around they'll conclude otherwise. ]  Now, they’re not all like that. There’s the man I pray over and have been exorcising for two years, there’s huge manifestations, he’s improved dramatically, but, nonetheless, he opened himself up for a bunch of reasons. I can’t detail them on the phone, it would take too long.

Velasquez: In general, what do you recommend people avoid if they don’t want to become involved with demonic activity?  [now this is what every Catholic should read!]

Fr Gary: I think they should just stay away from everything that is pagan in the sense of ritual, so I recommend that people should stay away from dabbling in the occult; from dabbling in things that are idolatrous, from getting involved in things that are simply about self, and I don’t mean by that going to a club and doing physical exercise. Where people are into Wicca, earth worship of other kinds, witchcraft and spells, crystals, using metaphysical means to try and find answers to questions. [Exactly what Fr. Jojo Zerrudo, exorcist of the Diocese of Cubao said.]

Velasquez: So stay away from New Age practices?

Fr Gary: Yes, those are all the New Age practices. [teeth gnashing and nail scratching sounds coming from Euntes and SVT.  Woohoo!]

Velasquez: Do you think there’s a greater need now in the Church than in previous times?

Fr Gary: I do, because there’s more Catholics involved in more paganism and idolatry.  [isn't this a bit of a shock for you folks?  For me, yes and no.  Yes because Catholics should not be involved in paganistic rituals like Wiccan, Feng-shui and all that geomancy mumbo jumbo.  No, because it all came from nuns and priests who are into New Age thingies!]

Velasquez: Fr Gabriel Amorth agrees with you, according to his books. Why do you think that there’s not enough of this ministry?

Fr Gary: I think for a long time we just relied so much on the social sciences, Psychiatry and Psychology as sort of a new religion to figure out the mysteries of human behavior. [The new gods of so-called aggiornamento Catholics.  It is heavily taught in seminaries and formation houses.  So what do we expect?  New warlocks and witches!]  I think we felt we could just depend on science, and I certainly am a proponent of using Psychiatry and Psychology, but in the same breath, I think that there’s a limit to science and there’s the realm of the spiritual we know far less about. And because of our scientific mind and orientation as a Western society, I think we put these other kinds of things we can’t figure out on the shelf.  [And anything supernatural goes out of the window.]

Velasquez: So its our prejudice against a spiritual explanation for things?
Fr Gary: I think so.

My Stand on the RH Bill

I HAVE been following the debates on the RH Bill not just in the recent House sessions but practically since its start. [He is reminding everyone that he knows what is going on.] In the process, because of what I have said and written (where I have not joined the attack dogs against the RH Bill), [but with what you have been writing, he almost looks like a double agent, or worse!] I have been called a Judas by a high-ranking cleric, [quite frankly I agree...with the high-ranking cleric.] I am considered a heretic [he is for openly dissenting against the magisterial teaching of Humanae Vitae.] in a wealthy barangay where some members have urged that I should leave the Church (which is insane), and one of those who regularly hears my Mass in the Ateneo Chapel in Rockwell came to me disturbed by my position. I feel therefore that I owe some explanation to those who listen to me or read my writings.  [I hope he clears things up.]

First, let me start by saying that I adhere to the teaching of the Church on artificial contraception [good!] even if [what?!] I am aware that the teaching on the subject is not considered infallible doctrine [It is as stated in the Responsum ad dubium by a cardinal named Joseph Ratzinger.] by those who know more theology than I do. [And there is a good chance that they know more dissent than you do, or do they?] Moreover, I am still considered a Catholic and Jesuit in good standing by my superiors, critics notwithstanding! [With your fellow Jesuits?  Uhmmm....ask Fr. James Reuter.  And with your superiors, including the bishops, hehehehe.]

Second (very important for me as a student of the Constitution and of church-state relations), I am very much aware of the fact that we live in a pluralist society where various religious groups have differing beliefs about the morality of artificial contraception. [No debate there.] But freedom of religion means more than just the freedom to believe. [Wow!  Nice segue that leads you to relativism!] It also means the freedom to act or not to act according to what one believes. [See?] Hence, the state should not prevent people from practicing responsible parenthood according to their religious belief nor may churchmen compel President Aquino, by whatever means, to prevent people from acting according to their religious belief. [Then why do you not get what the pro-life Catholics are cryin' out loud?]  As the “Compendium on the Social Teaching of the Catholic Church” says, “Because of its historical and cultural ties to a nation, a religious community might be given special recognition on the part of the State. Such recognition must in no way create discrimination within the civil or social order for other religious groups” and “Those responsible for government are required to interpret the common good of their country not only according to the guidelines of the majority but also according to the effective good of all the members of the community, including the minority.”

Third, I am dismayed by preachers telling parishioners that support for the RH Bill ipso facto is a serious sin or merits excommunication! I find this to be irresponsible. [If you publicly go up against Church teaching, what do you call these people?  I think playing politics is more irresponsible for a man who is ordained a priest of the Catholic Church, for someone who is seen as an intellectual heavyweight only to end up playing the "Obama card" of finding common ground.  There are simply no common ground on contraceptives in the Church.  None whatsoever!]

Fourth, I have never held that the RH Bill is perfect. [Who says you did?] But if we have to have an RH law, I intend to contribute to its improvement as much as I can. [And how is that gonna be?] Because of this, I and a number of my colleagues [dissenters?] have offered ways of improving it and specifying areas that can be the subject of intelligent discussion. (Yes, there are intelligent people in our country.) [Jesuits have a knack of looking themselves as the only intellectual being in the world.  As the Tagalog saying goes "Nagsabog ng katalinuhan..."  You don't have the kind of Ignatius Loyola and Francis Xavier like you used to.  The Jesuits we have today like to tell the whole world that they always stand up against the Pope, the bishops and the established norm.  Just to make them look, uhm,...intelligent.  "What does it profit a man if he gains the knowledge of the whole world but loses his soul in return...."]  For that purpose we jointly prepared and I published in my column what we called “talking points” on the bill. [Which are complete baloney!]

Fifth, specifically I advocate removal of the provision on mandatory sexual education in public schools without the consent of parents. (I assume that those who send their children to Catholic schools accept the program of Catholic schools on the subject.) My reason for requiring the consent of parents is, among others, the constitutional provision which recognizes the sanctity of the human family and “the natural and primary right of parents in the rearing of the youth for civic efficiency and the development of moral character.” (Article II, Section 12) [He did not even bother mentioning about what the Catholic Church teaches because either he knows and he does not care or he simply does not care.]

Sixth, I am pleased that the bill reiterates the prohibition of abortion as an assault against the right to life. Abortifacient pills and devices, if there are any in the market, [and you thought he is an intellectual!] should be banned by the Food and Drug Administration. But whether or not there are such is a question of scientific fact of which I am no judge. [Huh?!  Why the intellectual shyness all of a sudden?  Is it a way of dodging the bullet?]

Seventh, I hold that there already is abortion any time a fertilized ovum is expelled. The Constitution commands that the life of the unborn be protected “from conception.” For me this means that sacred life begins at fertilization and not at implantation.  [Ohh what a breather!  I thought he'd never mention that!  And I hope Angsioco, the Wiccans and FreeDumbers like Tani are reading this.  But, hang on...Great Scott!  He wrote in the previous paragraph there are no abortifacients in the market, yet the pills sold today are exactly doing what abortifacients do: kill the fertilized ovum!  Then, why, oh why, I pray tell, did Fr. Bernas not see this fact?!?!  Was it consciously done?  Or he simply does not know it?  But, hey, he's a Jesuit.  SURE HE KNOWS IT!]

Eighth, it has already been pointed out that the obligation of employers with regard to the sexual and reproductive health of employees is already dealt with in the Labor Code. If the provision needs improvement or nuancing, let it be done through an examination of the Labor Code provision. [Uhmmm... I prefer giving me the money to buy me food, medicine and education for my kids than for the latex.  No thanks!]

Ninth, there are many valuable points in the bill’s Declaration of Policy and Guiding Principles which can serve the welfare of the nation and especially of poor women who cannot afford the cost of medical service. [It does not even provide medical service for women!  It only advocates contraception and gives medical help for botched abortion!  For goodness sake, why not start improving our over-all health care services!  Holistic health care is not constrained in the organs between your legs!] There are specific provisions which give substance to these good points. They should be saved. [Uhm, no they do not.]

Tenth, I hold that public money may be spent for the promotion of reproductive health in ways that do not violate the Constitution. [He is not speaking as a Catholic and as a priest.  But can he do that?  Yes he did.  But is he supposed to do that?  No, he should not.  He is both a citizen of this country, a civil lawyer, a Catholic, a Jesuit priest and a public figure.  He should have thought of this first before he opened his mouth!] Public money is neither Catholic, nor Protestant, nor Muslim or what have you and may be appropriated by Congress for the public good without violating the Constitution.

Eleventh, I leave the debate on population control to sociologists.

Finally, I am happy that the CBCP has disowned the self-destructive views of some clerics.  [Well, I am not happy that you did not disown your dissent!]

After reading this, I won't be surprised if during the Gospel reading, Fr. Bernas begins it by saying:

"A reading from the Holy Constitution according to me!"

It seems all he cares about is the Constitution.

You are a priest for cryin' out loud!

What does the Church have to say about this?

He gave his comments about what the civil law says, but he gave a limp (no pun intended) defense of what the Church stands for in this RH debate.  He did not bother to comment on issues about population control and he left it to sociologist.

He is a priest right?  Why did he not comment on the moral and ethical side of the bill?  Remember that we turn to the Church on issues of faith and morals.  His statement about support of the Church's teaching about contraception while calling into question the infallibility of the teaching is almost like telling you to tell your kids:

"Hey, I am against pre-marital sex, but as long as you use a condom..."

Bernas says something to the effect of "I follow it even I am not required by law to do so."

If you have Catholic priests like that, who needs Martin Luther?!?!

MANILA (AFP) – A blood-curdling scream echoes through the Roman Catholic chapel in Manila as Father Jose Francisco Syquia says a prayer of exorcism over a Satanic cult member believed to be possessed by the devil.

"It's very painful," the woman cries in an unearthly voice, her body contorting in an attempt to break free from the tight grasp of Syquia's assistants. After a few minutes she falls silent, her limp body exhausted.

The case is among hundreds documented on video and kept by Syquia, who heads the Manila Archdiocese's Office of Exorcism -- the only one that exists in the Catholic nation of 94 million people.  [Idiot!  Other diocese's have it but this "journalist" Jason Gutierrez did not do his job.]

"She would have levitated had she not been restrained," [Ooooo....Filipino Freedumbers would say that this is taken out of the Hollywood movie.] Syquia said of the woman in the video, portions of which were shown to AFP during a rare interview at his office in the basement of a seminary in Manila.

Syquia believes he is in the frontline of the battle between good and evil on earth.

"There is a great dramatic increase of possessions right now," said the 44-year-old priest. "More and more the demons are gaining a foothold into this society."  [Are the RH people listening?]

While non-believers often joke about the devil, and demonic possessions are trivialised by Hollywood, Syquia insisted the torment suffered by those he had healed was real.

"I have seen scratches suddenly appearing on their skin, of inverted crosses on the forehead. These persons would be conscious at the time, and they tell me its like razor cutting from the inside of the skin," he said.  [I hope the Freedumbers see actual exorcisms.]

Demons could manifest themselves in many ways and could enter the human soul through occult and New Age teachings that were becoming increasingly popular in the general community, Syquia said.  [well, we have to stop on being taught in seminaries and in theology schools Father.]

The Catholic Church's exorcism ministry has throughout history tended to operate under a cloud of controversy and secrecy. [Huh?]

Syquia said a conspiracy of silence had permeated the church in the past, with its leaders wary of being branded as mediaeval as modern science tended to classify possessions as medical conditions.  [Demons do not know time or space.]

But Pope Benedict XVI had recently issued fresh guidelines encouraging more exorcisms and for the church to be more open about the issue, he said.

There are about 10 Filipino priests authorised to perform exorcisms in the Philippines, but only Syquia has a fully operational office that is backed by a staff of eight, including a lawyer and psychologists. [He wrote before that it is "the only one" in the Philippines.  Now he got it right.]

In his office, a bookshelf is stacked with tomes [tomes! what is this?  Are we playing Diablo here?] on the paranormal, while a glass-encased cabinet contains his tools for spiritual warfare -- his vestments, holy water, the crucifix, and a saint's holy relic.

The most potent among his weapons is a copy of the Roman Ritual for Exorcism, a compilation of prayers used by all the saints to expel and defeat demons through generations. [Is it the 1999 one?  Diocese of Rome exorcist Fr. Gabriel Amorth says that one is useless.  Demons laugh at it.]

A figurine of St Michael the Archangel trampling Lucifer sits on a shelf, a graphic reminder of his extraordinary job.  [Whose job?  This one here is not clear.  But if you ask me it is both Fr. Syquia's and St. Michael's job!]

Syquia was ordained only 11 years ago, after he had already obtained a degree in psychology at one of the Philippines' leading Catholic universities. [Uhmmmm....]

The second of four sons of a former diplomat, he said he left a comfortable life in one of Manila's exclusive, gated communities and employment in a family-owned business after he heard God's call to serve the church.

Growing up in a modern household, he and his four brothers did not believe in possessions -- which were made famous in the 1970s Hollywood film "The Exorcist".  [Because of Modernist hippie priests who can't get over the 60s.]

But Syquia said he had always been fascinated by paranormal activities and devoured entire books on the subject.

After he was ordained in 2000, Syquia said he was posted at a Manila church where, outside its premises, occult practitioners -- including spirit mediums, oracles and faith healers -- also thrived.  [Quiapo is an example!]

His first case came when a man singled him out from a group of priests and asked for deliverance after confessing that he had been deep into occult practices.


How the man knew his name was a mystery to Syquia, although he said deep in his heart he knew -- just a week earlier he had begun studying a book on exorcism that he had bought long ago.  [One indication of demonic possession...]

Syquia sought guidance from the the local bishop, who promptly granted him the authority to carry out an exorcism guided by his knowledge of psychology.

"I realised God was leading me to this path. I have treated hundreds and hundreds of cases since then," he said.  [Fr. Syquia recalled an accomplished female doctor who said she was befriended by demons that had appeared to her as benign dwarves that showered her with good luck in the form of financial rewards.

Her troubles began when she decided to return to the Catholic Church and offer all her blessings to God.

Soon after, the demons took over her body for hours at a time, while unexplained paranormal activity began terrorising members of her family, Syquia said.

"When the time came to bless her with holy water a voice that wasn't hers shouted for us to stop," he said.

"What really scared me was that this was the first time that I saw something very alien in her eyes. I was looking at something else. It was totally evil."

The voice taunted Syquia and told him to return to his mansion and rich family, personal details that were unknown to those in the room, he said.  [That is why exorcists go through a retreat and confession to cleanse their soul of their sins because the devil will use it against them.]

"We will never leave her," the demon said, according to Syquia.

Syquia said a barrage of prayers eventually forced the demon out, with the woman now a good friend and church volunteer.

"With God by your side, you can do no wrong," he said.  [Freedumbers!  Where are you now huh?  Yup, possessed.]

I had a conversation with my boss and with his American friend who is a Deist.  And since they know that I am a devout Catholic and a Knight of Columbus, they began asking me a series of questions about demonic possessions.

The American said that in this day and age, such thing isn't anymore possible.  Technology can prove things otherwise, like what most agnostics and atheists believe.  I told him that the supernatural is not limited by time and space.  And so things that happened in the Bible can happen a hundred years ago and can still happen till today.  He answered that this thing is not true and that there are no video evidence to prove this.  I told him to go to YouTube and there are TONS of exorcism rituals of the Church that is documented.  And then he said that it is a 'Catholic thing' and that other religions don't have it.

My answer...YouTube.  Evangelicals, Protestants, Orthodox even Muslims have video evidence loaded on YouTube about exorcisms.

A CALL to arms – to take up the weapons of the rosary and prayer – rang out at a recent international conference on exorcism in Rome.

The Church needs more training of both priests and laypeople in fighting the influence of the devil and bringing spiritual healing to those in need, attendees said.

“This is warfare. We’ve gotten way behind. We’ve lost the concept of spiritual warfare,” said Msgr. Marvin Mottet, the official exorcist of the Diocese of Davenport, Iowa.  [I know one theology school in Manila who calls the devil a metaphor for the social "evils".]

The 80-year-old retired priest said that about once a month he sees a serious case of possession and “tons” of cases of demonic influence in which people are being “bothered or attacked by evil spirits.” Those kinds of cases, he said, are “a daily thing.” [I am sure the Filipino Freedumbers will have a dumb answer to this.  Why don't we let them see an actual exorcism and get wet with green spit?  Joking!]

Msgr. Mottet was one of 60 people attending a course on exorcism and Satanism at the Legionaries of Christ’s Regina Apostolorum University in Rome March 28-April 2. The annual event is co-sponsored by the Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments and the Congregation for Clergy.

The course, which does not train people to become exorcists, attracted many people who were already familiar and experienced with exorcism; 10 were from the United States. The majority of participants were priests, but some were lay doctors, psychologists or parishioners active in prayer ministry.  [Hey, FreeDumbers!  There are doctors and psychologists in the group!  You think you are still more intelligent than them?]

Vatican City, Apr 4, 2011 / 01:41 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Twenty-two martyrs of the Spanish Civil War and a priest beheaded during the French Revolution will be declared “blessed” by the Church in coming months.

On April 2, the Pope met with Cardinal Angelo Amato, the prefect of the Vatican's Congregation for the Causes of Saints, to review canonization causes up for advancement.

The Vatican announced April 2 that Pope Benedict XVI had approved 29 beatification decrees and recognized the "heroic virtue" of six candidates for sainthood.

The causes of Father Francisco Esteban Lacal of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate and 21 of his companions – among them Oblate students, religious and priests – were approved for martyrdom. They were killed in 1936 along with a layman, Candido Castan San Jose, after a series of persecutions against them for their work in religious communities and parishes.

It is estimated that nearly 7,000 clergy and religious, including 12 bishops, were killed for their faith during the 1936-1939 Spanish Civil War.

The Vatican also determined that Father Peter Adrian Toulorge of the Premonstratensian Regular Canons died as a martyr during the French Revolution. He was guillotined in Coutances, France in 1793 for being a Catholic priest.

His cause was opened in 1922, along with those of 56 other priests from France's Normandy region.

In addition to the newly declared martyrs, the Vatican approved miracles attributed to the intercession of two priests and three religious sisters from Italy and Spain, thus paving the way for their beatifications.

Among them is Father Clemente Vismara, an Italian priest of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions who died in 1988 at 91 years old. The miracle involved a 10-year old boy in Myanmar, where Fr. Vismara worked.

The boy hit his head on a rock after he fell from a tree branch 15-feet above the ground. He went into a coma, but after three days of prayer for Fr. Vismara's intercession, the boy woke up and suffered no permanent damage.

Although no canonization causes were approved to fully recognize sainthood, six Catholic faithful were recognized for having shown "heroic virtue" in their lives. Bishop Thomas Kurialacherry, the first bishop of Changanacherry, India, Canadian religious Br. Theophanius-Leo Chatillon of the Brothers of Christian Schools and 14-year old Bernhard Lehner, a courageously faithful German teenager who died from an illness in 1944 were among them.

What has the INC got to do with an impeachment?

MANILA, Philippines—All means are being exhausted to stop the looming impeachment of Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez in the House of Representatives lest former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo end up on trial, a senator said Sunday.

Ahead of this week’s vote, a high-ranking official of Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) had been calling House members to kill the impeachment complaint, according to Iloilo Rep. Niel Tupas Jr., chair of the justice committee. [What's religion got to do with it?]

“All efforts are being undertaken to abort the impeachment of Gutierrez because in effect it will be GMA (Arroyo) on trial,” Sen. Franklin Drilon said in an interview, referring to the former president, now a Pampanga lawmaker. [You bet!]

Drilon said the charges in the impeachment complaints—the P728-million fertilizer fund scam, the $329-million NBN-ZTE deal, and the Mega-Pacific contract—were linked to Arroyo, her husband Jose Miguel and their cronies.  [And the Iglesia wants this stopped?  But why?  Could be?  Really? Is it a bird?  A plane? Or...oops!  wrong script.]

“Even if it is Merceditas Gutierrez who will be the respondent in an impeachment, it will be in effect GMA on trial. All of the allegations are connected to her and her husband and her cronies,” said Drilon, a colleague of President Benigno Aquino III in the Liberal Party.

The House is set to vote in plenary this week on whether to approve the justice committee’s finding of probable cause to impeach Gutierrez and send the articles of impeachment to the Senate for trial. [The House just did.  This is old news that I just dug up.]

Gutierrez has been accused of inaction on a number of cases, particularly the scandals that marred the Arroyo administration, and of betraying public trust and violating the Constitution.  [In the private sector, you slack, you get fired.  In the government, you sit on the job, the Iglesia ni Cristo defends you.  HOORAY!]

A lawmaker, who asked not to be named, said Gutierrez appeared to have the backing of the INC.


Proof of this was the fact that she was represented in the House by former Justice Secretary Serafin Cuevas, who acted as counsel for the INC a number of times, the lawmaker said.  [He also was the lawyer of deposed president Joseph Estrada.]

“Serafin Cuevas indicates the hand of Iglesia ni Cristo. He is known to be the lawyer of Iglesia ni Cristo,” the lawmaker said. “Merci has the full support of Iglesia.”

In the face of intense INC lobbying, members of the ruling Liberal Party remain positive of getting the one-third vote, albeit below the initial target of at least 150 votes or more than half of the House.

“The phone calls made by a high-ranking official of Iglesia ni Cristo to kill the impeachment case may affect the vote of some House members but we are still confident that we will get the required number of votes to send the articles of impeachment to the Senate for trial,” Tupas said in a text message.  [Thank goodness this congressman has the gut to stand up against these Pharisees!]

A House source, who requested anonymity, said the INC was egging some lawmakers to call in sick or leave after the roll call.

“That’s a game changer. The evidence of that (INC intervention) is so manifest. Last week, the proponents were boasting of a slam dunk. Today, they are now prefiguring that the battle will be tight,” said Isabela Rep. Georgidi Aggabao of the Nationalist People’s Coalition.

Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Neri Colmenares, whose group is one of the complainants in the impeachment case, said the INC stand would have a minimal impact on the voting “because it would be difficult for a congressman to be absent because all eyes are on us.”

Solon upset

Akbayan party-list Rep. Walden Bello was upset that the INC would intervene in the business of Congress.

“Why are religious blocs crossing the line dividing the church and state, the INC in the case of the impeachment issue and the (Catholic) Church on reproductive health? Can’t these pressure groups stay on the sidelines and allow Congress to do its work?” asked Bello, whose group is the second complainant in the case. [This idiot of Celdran's same garment (get it Pinoys?) is really annoying.  How could he compare the fight of the Catholic Church against RH, which is an issue of morality, with the meddling of the Iglesia ni Cristo against the impeachment of an inutile public servant?  Did not know that the Iglesia Bible teaches against impeachment!  What stupid reasoning will we see on Net25 this time!]

Zambales Rep. Milagros Magsaysay, [an arrogant and irritating lawmaker!] a member of the minority, found nothing wrong with the INC’s intervention. “Everyone is a stakeholder in this,” she said. [And she is mad if the CBCP talks against the RH Bill.  There's your kind of Catholic, folks!]

Cavite Rep. Joseph E.A. Abaya, a key Liberal Party official in the House, said the vote could “go either way.”

Mr. Aquino’s deputy spokesperson, Abigail Valte, shrugged off reports that the Palace would withhold the pork barrel of lawmakers who would not support the impeachment of Gutierrez.

“It’s not the policy of the administration to use the pork barrel to sway (lawmakers) one way or the other,” Valte said. With a report from Christine O. Avendaño

Pope sends money to Japan

VATICAN CITY, March 16 (CNA/EWTN News) - Pope Benedict XVI sent a donation of $100,000 to the Bishops' Conference of Japan to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that struck the country on March 11.

Msgr. Anthony Figueiredo of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, told Vatican Radio that the council is working closely with the Japanese bishops, Caritas International network and other aid organizations to determine the best way to respond to the needs of the people.

Cor Unum is the council that carries out the Pope's humanitarian efforts.

Msgr. Figueiredo said Japan has experienced "a vast tragedy" on par with the 2004 tsunami in Asia, the earthquake and flooding in Pakistan, and the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti.

"The first thing we need to do is to pray that these people have hope," he said, before explaining that material assistance is also needed. "The Holy Father has sent $100,000 to the Japanese bishops through this pontifical council because that is the fastest way to get the funds to the most affected dioceses."

In addition, the Vatican official continued, "The bishops are the ones responsible first for the works of charity in the dioceses, and they know what the people need." He emphasized that the Church plans to continue assisting those in Japan for the long term.

Bishop Tetsuo Hiraga of Sendai, one the regions most affected by the tragedy, told Fides news agency that unity and good will are needed. "Catholics in the Diocese of Sendai are a small flock of just over 10,000. But we continue praying for the victims and we will do everything possible to bring relief and bear witness to the message of Christ during this time of suffering," he said. [Christian charity is helping all as exemplified in the Parable of the Good Samaritan.]

He added that the bishops will hold an emergency meeting on March 16 in Sendai. "We need to advise each other on how to respond. In the meantime, we trust in God and we ask for prayers from Christians around the world."

"We have received the message from the Holy Father and we thank him for his words that inspire courage and hope. Right now this is our specific mission: to help the nation raise its eyes to heaven and to keep the flame of hope alive," Bishop Hiraga said. [Sursum Corda!]

New Archbishop of Cebu enthroned!

CEBU, Philippines - Bishop Jose Palma arrived yesterday for his installation as the new archbishop of the Archdiocese of Cebu today. [It should have been 'archbishop' since he was archbishop of Palo before he was transferred to the See of Cebu.]

On board Philippine Airlines Flight PR 857, Palma landed shortly before 3 p.m. at the Mactan Cebu International Airport, where he was welcomed by Cebu Auxiliary Bishop Julito Cortes, Msgr. Achilles Dakay and Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza.

At the airport’s Most Important People (MIP) area, Palma was met by Msgr. Cayetano Gelbolingo, Rev. Fr. Augustine Polong, Fr. Jaime Duero, Cebu City Mayor Michel Rama, Central Command chief Lt. Gen. Ralph Villanueva and Regional Police Director Ager Ontog.

When Palma emerged from the MIP main door, he was bewildered to see a group of men and women from the Visayan Forum Foundation Inc. chanting his name to welcome him.

In proceeding to the Archbishops Palace, Palma’s convoy passed waiving schoolchildren and parishioners along the way.

The motorcade passed with ease through the major thoroughfares of Mandue City. Classes of schools along Palma’s route momentarily stopped as students went out to welcome him.

Some establishments also stopped their operations to let their employees join in welcoming Palma. [Imagine the aghast of the "freedumbers'!]

Yesterday’s 3 p.m. session of the Mandaue City Council was delayed for awhile as Mayor Jonas Cortes and the councilors met Palma, who made a three-minute stop at the city to mingle with Mandauehanons.

Students of St. Joseph Academy also presented a Sinulog dance in front of St Joseph Parish to welcome Palma.

Palma, in a statement after a brief talk with Cortes, said he was overwhelmed by the crowd that gathered to welcome him. His caravan then proceeded to Cebu City.

When Palma’s convoy passed Barangay Mabolo, hundreds of students from Mabolo Central School and parishioners headed by Fr. Joselito Danao gathered to great him.

The bells of Mabolo Parish Church rang as a sign of his arrival. [that is why we need to put back bells in our churches!]


Palma’s convoy arrived at the Archbishops Palace where he was welcomed by his predecessor, Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, at the St. Joseph Chapel.

Upon entering the chapel, Palma was handed a crucifix which he kissed as a symbol of his strong faith. He then blessed the faithful and himself with holy water.

Vidal opened the ceremony with a prayer asking God to guide and bless Palma as “as pastor of Christ” and to “watch over” his flock.

Following a deacon’s reading of a gospel, Palma knelt down and professed his faith through the Nicene Creed.

Palma then delivered his “oath of fidelity” in Latin, placing his hand on the Book of Gospels as an act of loyalty to the pope with the promise to protect the church. [Click here to view the Oath.]

Towards the end of the ceremony, Palma blessed the faithful which include members of the clergy, the parishioners and the media.

Palma said: “Nagasalig ako nga kita mga Cebuano magkahiusa kita ug magbuligay kita, mag inabangay aron atong probinsya ug simabahan motubo ug molambo.” [My Cebuano is a bit rusty... basically he trusts in the Cebuanos to unite and help each other so that the province and the Church would grow and spread.]

He is confident that he will have no problem adapting to his new place because he knows the capabilities of Cebuanos.

In his speech after dinner at the Sacred Heart Center, Vidal said: “I thank the Lord that he has given me the opportunity to welcome my successor, to install him in his cathedra and to wish him all the Lord’s blessings as he assumes office as archbishop of Cebu.”

“It is my wish this spirit of gratitude that I welcome Archbishop Joe Palma to his Archdiocese…Cebu might be a dynamo of progress in the Philippine but as you will see later in your first fiesta señor as Archbishop of Cebu, it is also a dynamo of faith,” Vidal said.

While Vidal is leaving his seat to his successor, he said he is not worried as he believes that Cebuanos will always help Palma.

Lawyer Pat Acabodillo, who will represent the entire lay community at Palma’s installation today, assured the new archbishop of full support of the lay community.


Today at 9 a.m. at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, Palma will be installed and the new archbishop of Cebu.

Expected to attend are members of his family from Jaro, Ilo-ilo and friends from former assignments in Palo and Calbayog, Leyte. [Cardinal Jaime Sin was also na Ilonggo from New Washington, Aklan.]

Only pre-identified personnel are allowed to occupy the front pews of the cathedral, which are reserved for Palma’s family, friends, Cebu clergymen, bishops and guests.

The highlight of the installation will be when Palma is escorted by Vidal to the cathedra, which will symbolize the transfer of seat.

The attention hungry travel guide admitted through his Facebook wall post that he was sued by Augustinian priest Fr. Pedro Galende of the San Agustin Museum.   He also confirmed that it was a libel case.  I made a post about the plans of Fr. Galende before.

And his "freedumbers" reacted on his post like...

His followers cry out loud for the "harassment" being done by the Church against them.

So if the Church defends Herself from malicious attacks and libelous claims, it is harassment?

And what if she does nothing, it is the Christian way to do while you go your merry way slandering the Church to your heart's delight?

One of his followers even had the audacity to quote the passage where Christ forgave the adulterous woman.  "Let the one who has not sinned cast the first stone." goes the quote.  But remember the last line of that pasage:  "Your sins are forgiven.  GO AND SIN NO MORE."  The Lord's Mercy is a freely given gift.  It is not a right!  Those who are forgiven are expected to reform their lives.

So they break a law of the land and they want to be exonerated immediately?  If he thinks he has the evidence to back up his libelous claims, then he better face the music.  He loves the spotlight doesn't he?  Now the lights are all on you, Celdran.  Eat your heart out!

CBCP News reports the "clash" outside Manila Cathedral

CBCP News has finally posted the news about the battle of the agents of death and faithful Catholics in the very gates of the Mother Church of the Philippines.

MANILA, Nov. 22, 2010— Opponents clashed with supporters of Reproductive Health Bill who had gathered outside Manila Cathedral on Saturday night to protest the Catholic Church’s opposition to contraceptives.

About 20 pro-RH bill “Catholics” [Oooo!!!!!  I LOVE HOW CBCP NEWS WROTE THIS!!!!  HUZZAAHH!!!!]  tried to enter the cathedral where a “prayer and reflection service on human life” was being held but they were barred by the organizers.

The demonstrators, mostly teenagers, belonging to a group called Filipino Freethinkers,[Freedumbers!] however, forced to get inside the church sparking word-war between both parties.

The supporters of the reproductive health bill were wearing t-shirts with “Damaso” printed on them and the statement “Pass the RH bill Now.”

“Father Damaso” refers to an abusive priest who fathered a child in Jose Rizal’s novel “Noli Me Tangere.”

“Get away from us, walk out! This is our affair, respect us… organize your own affair,” yelled Pro-Life President Philippines Eric Manalang.

“You’re insulting my Mother Church. If your mother would be insulted, will you not feel bad?” Manalang said.

A protester answered: “Maybe not…” [Probably.  Maybe he does not care whatever happens to his mother.]

“We are also Catholics (that’s why we are here),” said another one. [You bet?]

But RH-bill supporters defied the appeal and continued distributing flyers or invitation to a “party” together with the people and organizations that support the RH bill. [That "party" aims to raise money for the defense of Dona Victorina.  I think it will be at Sodom and Gomorrah.  Joke!  I saw the announcement at the Freedumbers website and I WILL NOT post about it.]

“If supporting the RH bill means excommunication, excommunicate me!” part the flyer read. “Join us for an evening of dinner, entertainment, and dissent,” part of the flyer read. [You do not need a formal excommunication to send you flying out of the Church.  You already got it dude!]

Manalang said they felt insulted as more opponents including famous lawyer Romulo Macalintal went outside the cathedral to face the rallyists. [Huh?  This is ambiguous.  I saw the video and Atty. Romulo Macalintal went out to help Mr. Manalang against the Rabid Harlots.]

“Do anything you want to do and we don’t care… just respect our own affair,” a mother said.  [Respect?  They do not know the word.  They are following in the footsteps of Dona Victorina!]

The rallyists finally decided to leave the cathedral after about 10 minutes of confrontation and as more participants of the forum went out of the church to drive them away.  [You want numbers, eh?  Now they got it.]

“You are Catholics but you are dissidents. We are Catholics but we follow God’s commandment to protect life strictly,” shouted Manalang as the rallyists were leaving the cathedral. (CBCPNews)
