Get Ready For SSPX Pandemonium

April 15th is an unpleasant day in the United States and we await its arrival with dread. But in Rome and in Écône, Switzerland and around the world thousands upon thousands look upon the 15th with fear and hope all mixed together. April 15th is the deadline. And if you are smart, you should be paying attention too.  [LOL!]

By April 15th the Society of Saint Pius X will give their response to a “Doctrinal Preamble” outlining “certain doctrinal principles and criteria for the interpretation of Catholic doctrine … (while also) leaving open to legitimate discussion the examination and theological explanation of individual expressions and formulations contained in the documents of Vatican Council II and later Magisterium.”

The Holy See and the SSPX have been in discussion for a few years and have been going back and forth on this document for months and it all comes down to the 15th.

If they refuse to sign, it may well lead to a permanent schism which would be a disaster for all the souls involved, the Pope, and the Church as a whole.

If they do sign, it opens the door to regularization of the Society and an end to ...

Actually, if they do sign, it is not an end to anything. It's a beginning of, well hold on to your hats. It's gonna a be a bumpy ride.

If they do sign and the Pope offers them a Personal Prelature or some such thing, all hell is gonna break loose. Progressive forces within the Church will freak and then they will freak some more. To them, this is will be a clear sign that the Pope is repudiating Vatican II, dusting off the torture devices in the Vatican basement, and lacing up his Nikes preparing to chase down some Jews with a baseball bat. There will be no limit to the hyperbolic nonsense they will be spewing.  [Hahahaha!!!  I love this guy!]

But speaking of hyperbolic nonsense, there are dark forces within the Society who will likely reject any reconciliation and may figure that they are now unbound from their imposed silence. I speak, of course of Bishop Richard Williamson, whom I affectionately call a complete idiot. [There are others.  Nutjob, Ding-a-ling, Goofball, KSP....] There is almost no limit to the problems that this holocaust denying lunatic can cause.

There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth all across the spectrum.

But after all that, the Church will be in a much better place. We are better off with the SSPX within the fold.  [Ooooooo.....like me!  Secret SSPX sympathizer!  Oh, wait.  I typed it wrong.  SECRET SSPX SYMPATHIZER!!!  There, that's better.]

So, will they or won't they?

There are several indications that they may very well sign. Louie Verrecchio speculates:

Fr. Franz Schmidberger, District Superior of the German District of the SSPX (who had stated just last February that the Preamble is “unacceptable”), for example, penned a statement to be read in the Society chapels under his care on Sunday, March 25th, which stated in part:

We have thus arrived at a crucial point. Even if the letter (of the Preamble) strikes an unpleasant sound, there are legitimate hopes for a satisfactory solution. If this solution would be reached it would considerably strengthen all the orthodox forces in the Church. If not, it would weaken and discourage these forces. So it is not primarily about our brotherhood, but for the good of the Church.

On March 29th, the General House of the SSPX issued a statement of its own relative to this situation, saying in part:

Bishop Bernard Fellay, Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X, has urgently been inviting the faithful to redouble their fervor in prayer… that the Divine Will may be done.

The Society of St. Pius X, which wants only the good of the Church and the salvation of souls, turns with confidence to the Blessed Virgin Mary, so that she might obtain from her divine Son the lights necessary to know His will clearly and to carry it out courageously.

It appears to me that the Society is preparing its faithful for reconciliation under terms that may be less than perfect, but that nonetheless represent a pathway to healing for the Church as a whole.

You think that the traditional movement in the Church would have gained any ground if not for the obstinate attitude of Archbishop Marcel and his followers?  I am not condoning his act of consecrating bishops without papal mandate.  But his calls for were legitimate.  And because of the fallout from the 1988 consecrations, we have traditionalist groups born out of every country.  And the traditional movement gained ground.

There are those who think that they are so faithful to the Church that they are willing to call members and even priests of the SSPX as cowards, traitors and dogs!

Yup.  There are those like that.  Lay and even clergy.  One you know very well.  Online all the time, recently, rarely...

This attitude is not the right kind of an attitude for someone who should be helping in harvesting souls in the Lord's field.

This is not the charitable attitude that these Vatican II fanatics cannot understand even if the same Council trumpets Ecumenism!

That is not how you bring people back home.

Have you ever seen a parent, who after seeing his long lost son, would shout and curse him for what he did?

Yeah, I have seen those.  In the slums where I used to live, our neighbors would call their children "P...I  ka!"  for staying outside a couple of minutes.  They were my playmates.  My parents did not do that to us.  But at a young age, I know that is was wrong.  I knew it hurt.

But for a priest, and an apologist to act that way, is not only uncharitable and unmerciful, it is downright cheap and unbecoming of a man ordained to absolve sins and be an agent of God's mercy.

Isn't this what this story is telling us?

God's mercy will be celebrated tomorrow.

That is the reason why the deadline for the response of the SSPX was set on this day.

Whenever you get to be in the church while this is going on, you focus on the dance, not on the singing of the praise to God.

You get to see a "spectacular, spectacular show on the planet!"

Don't blink.  There is still something in there that I see is not right.

The erosion of belief: More liturgical horrors during an Easter Vigil

Yeah, that is how the Mass has become to the people behind this "show", a SHOW.  The Mass is something you "plan" to make it "more lively", as if the Mass where Christ is sacrificed is DEAD.  They tell you the Mass needs to be more "interesting" as if the Mass is boring and unattractive.

So if people are taught that the Mass is a show, they expect it to be a show! 

Children MUST DANCE during the Entrance Procession or during the Singing of the Gloria...

Someone must act out while the Gospel is being read. I once attended an Easter Vigil and the whole reading was acted out! It was a total mess!

Priests MUST make them LAUGH during the homily...

Tons of whatever you can find to offer during the Offertory Procession MUST BE OFFERED and an explanation of why it is being offered is read by the Commentator.  Ever seen a toga and diploma offered during a Baccalaureate Mass?

Loaf bread was consecrated since according to the priest, Christ took bread not HOST! Arrrggghhhh!!!

Each person was asked to receive ONLY ON THE HAND and to show the spirit of giving and community, must not put the Host he received but must place it into the mouth of the person standing next to him on the Communion line. AAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

Now, you know why the Church has told us about Lex orandi, lex credendi. The law of prayer is the law of Faith.

Before the Church has written down what it believes in through the codification of the books of the Bible and the Creed, we were already praying, and our prayer expresses what we believe in.

Do not be surprised why we have Cafeteria Catholics, those who choose like in a cafeteria, what suits them.  I prefer to call them BUFFET CATHOLICS, gluttons who take only what they want and when they have their fill, leave their half-finished plates. Why we have Catholics who openly defy the teachings of the Church and do whatever they want? Active homosexuals, couples who co-habitate, use contraception, abort their babies, use drugs, graft and corruption....

These are all signs my dear people of the corruption of our people

And it is all thanks to the great work, or none of it, of our bishops and priests, who failed miserably in their work to tell the people right from wrong, of telling their flock of what is Holy and what is Mundane, of what is life here on earth as a preparation for LIFE IN HEAVEN.

When I saw the photos that were sent to me, aside from what I ranted above, this thing comes to mind:

"The parish priest just admitted that he is a lousy proclaimer of the Gospel that he needs the help of children to proclaim the Resurrection of the Lord, which he always reads every single year of his life as a priest of the Catholic Church!"

Pathetic!

No wonder you have priests who'd use the energy to make Powerpoint presentations for their homily.  Words are not enough!

Poor St. Paul and St. Francis Xavier.  You are not as good as these SHOWMAN PRIESTS.  You are not entertaining enough, and you were born in a time that has no electricity!

Try preaching with words and deeds, and stop the CREATIVITIES that is anything but creative because they distract the attention of the Mass goers from the essentials!

The reason, aside from that one, why I hate these skits or acting, if you call them that, during the Mass, is that they are perfect grounds for GRAFT AND CORRUPTION.

Yup, you read it right.  These ACTING WORKSHOPS and their TRAINERS are pathetic actors of whatever theater you have who'd charge an arm and a leg to train church people during these days.  I am a witness to this.  Priests would rather spend P20,000 to P30,000 of church donations for this useless, one-night only performance, yet they frown upon spending the same amount of money in purchasing edifying and beautiful vestments, vessels and images for the worship of the Lord during Mass!

Really mind boggling!

Why oh, why dear liturgists and priests are Masses like these drawing young people, huh?

Why oh why then are you afraid of televising this kind of Mass?

Oh yeah, I know all about it, how the ugly head of that Benedictine monk and his minions turned towards a regular Sunday Mass on TV after a TLM was shown on national TV....the following Sunday they broadcast their "rebuttal" of that hopelessly dead, yet still being flogged to life zombie known as Misa ng Sambayanang Pilipino?

And you think they were through?  No siree.  The whole program was recommended to be taken off the air!

Such power that old man wields!  Makes you think that he might be like his idol, Annibale, you know, the liturgical leanings and SOCIETY he might be affiliated with?

ROME, April 11, 2012 – With a letter written personally to Cardinal William J. Levada, Benedict XVI has ordered the congregation for the doctrine of the faith to examine whether the Neocatechumenal Masses are or are not in keeping with the liturgical teaching and practice of the Catholic Church.  [Oh shucks!  There goes any hope for the resurrection of the zombie named "Misa ng Sambayanang Pilipino"]


A "problem," in the pope's judgment, that is "of great urgency" for the whole Church.

Benedict XVI has been alarmed for some time about the particular ways in which the communities of the Neocatechumenal Way celebrate their Masses, on Saturday evening, in separate locations.

His sense of alarm was increased by the plot woven behind his back in the curia last winter, as reported by www.chiesa in the following articles:

What had happened was that the pontifical council for the laity headed by Cardinal Stanislaw Rylko had prepared the text for a degree of blanket approval of all the liturgical and extra-liturgical celebrations of the Neocatechumenal Way, to be made public the January 20 on the occasion of a meeting scheduled between the pope and the Way.  [Cardinal Rylko is another Sodano.]

The decree was redacted according to the guidelines of the congregation for divine worship, headed by Cardinal Antonio Cañizares Llovera. The founders and leaders of the Way, Francisco "Kiko" Argüello and Carmen Hernández, were told about it and joyfully told their followers about the imminent approval.


Benedict XVI found out about the text of the decree a few days before the meeting on January 20.

He found it illogical and mistaken. He ordered that it be scrapped and rewritten according to his guidelines.  [Booya!  They think Benedict is like John Paul who signs almost anything instantly without reading them, or so as the rumor mill in the Vatican back in the JP2 days says.]

In fact, the decree that was made public on January 20 limited itself to approving the extra-liturgical ceremonies that mark the catechetical stages of the Way.

In his speech, the pope stressed that only these had been authorized. While with regard to the Mass, he gave the Neocatechumenals a genuine lecture – almost an ultimatum – on how to celebrate it in full fidelity to the liturgical norms and in practical communion with the Church.

During those same days, Benedict XVI received in audience the archbishop of Berlin, Rainer Maria Woelki, a trusted confrere whom he would soon make a cardinal. Among other things, Woelki talked to him about the difficulties that the Neocatechumenals were creating in his diocese with their separate Masses on Saturday evening, officiated by about thirty member priests.  [A church within the Church.  Wasn't this what the critics of Opus Dei once labelled them?  But nooooooooooo!  Opus Dei members are not like that.  They celebrate Masses in the parishes where they live.]

The pope asked Woelki to give him a survey of the matter in writing. On January 31, Woelki sent him a letter with more detailed information.

A few days later, on February 11, the pope forwarded a copy of this letter to the congregation for the doctrine of the faith, together with a request to examine as soon as possible this question that "concerns not only the archdiocese of Berlin."

The examining commission headed by the congregation for the doctrine of the faith would have to include, according to the pope's guidelines, two other Vatican dicasteries: the congregation for divine worship and the discipline of the sacraments, and the pontifical council for the laity.  [A Sacred Congregation is in fact of a higher "stature" than of a Pontifical Council, fyi.]

And so it was. On March 26, in the Palazzo del Sant'Uffizio, under the presidency of the secretary of the congregation for the doctrine of the faith, Archbishop Luis Francisco Ladaria Ferrer, a Jesuit, a meeting for an initial examination of the question was held with the secretaries of the other two dicasteries – for divine worship Archbishop Augustine J. Di Noia, a Dominican, and for the laity Bishop Josef Clemens – and with four experts designated by them. An absent fifth expert, Dom Cassiano Folsom, prior of the monastery of Saint Benedict in Norcia, sent his assessment in writing.  [What?!?!  They did not get the world-renowned Benedictine liturgists who is well known for the same fabricated liturgies you saw this Holy Week in our parishes?!  The nerve......  :D]

All of the judgments expressed were critical of the Masses of the Neocatechumenals. Also very severe was the one that the congregation for the doctrine of the faith had asked, before the meeting, of the theologian and newly created cardinal Karl J. Becker, Jesuit, professor emeritus at the Pontifical Gregorian University and an adviser to the dicastery.

The dossier provided for the meeting by the congregation for the doctrine of the faith included the pope's letter of February 11, Cardinal Woelki's letter to the pope in the original German and in English, the assessment of Cardinal Becker, and a guide for the discussion that explicitly brought into question the conformity to the liturgical teaching and practice of the Catholic Church of article 13 § 2 of the statutes of the Neocatechumenals, the one in which they justify their separate Masses on Saturday evening.  [Anyone always has as excuse.]

In reality, the danger feared by Benedict XVI and by many bishops – as demonstrated by the many complaints that have been made to the Vatican – is that the particular ways in which the Neocatechumenal communities all over the world celebrate their Masses may introduce into the Latin liturgy a new de facto "rite" artificially composed by the founders of the Way, foreign to the liturgical tradition, full of doctrinal ambiguities and a source of division in the community of the faithful.  [Very much the same as the Misa ng Sambayanang Pilipino of Fr. Anscar Chupungco.  And I thought he was a liturgical expert....]

To the commission he had set up, the pope entrusted the task of verifying the validity of these fears. In view of decisions to be made.

The judgments elaborated by the commission will be examined in an upcoming plenary meeting of the congregation for the doctrine of the faith, on a Wednesday – a "feria quarta" – in the second half of April.

So it is good to say your goodbyes to the Kiko Mass and all their eccentricities.

Several Pinoy bishops have expressed their disgust of the Neo Cat and one bishop even publicly banned them from his Archdiocese.

If communities such as these who have liturgical weirdness littered all over it are being disciplined now under this gloriously reigning Pope's watch, when will the same ax fall on liturgical abusers here in the Philippines?

RIP: Cardinal Ignace Moussa Daoud

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- Mourning the death of Syrian-born Cardinal Ignace Moussa Daoud, who died April 7 in a Rome hospital, Pope Benedict XVI also prayed for the people of the Middle East "living through difficult times."

The 81-year-old cardinal was the retired prefect of the Congregation for Eastern Churches and the former patriarch of the Syriac Catholic Church. His funeral was scheduled for April 10 in St. Peter's Basilica.

In a condolence message to Syriac Patriarch Ignatius Joseph III Younan of Antioch, Pope Benedict called the cardinal a "faithful pastor who devoted himself with faith and generosity to the service of the people of God."

The pope also assured the patriarch that during "these days, when we celebrate the resurrection of the Lord," he was offering special prayers "for the peoples of the region who are living through difficult times."

Cardinal Daoud was born Basile Moussa Daoud in Meskene, Syria, Sept. 18, 1930, and had served as archbishop of Homs, one of the cities now being most deeply affected by violence as the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad reacts to efforts to oust him.

Ordained to the priesthood in 1954, he earned a degree in canon law from Rome's Pontifical Lateran University. He was elected bishop of Cairo in 1977 and archbishop of Homs in 1994.

The synod of the Syriac Catholic Church, one of the Eastern churches in communion with Rome, elected him patriarch of Antioch in 1998 and, following Syriac tradition, he took the name Ignace in honor of St. Ignatius of Antioch.

He resigned as patriarch in 2001 after Blessed John Paul II named him prefect of the Congregation for Eastern Churches, which oversees the Vatican's care for the 22 Eastern Catholic churches that originated in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and North Africa and that continue to maintain distinctive liturgical and legal systems. He retired as prefect in 2007.

Addressing an international meeting on religion and peace in 2000, the cardinal said everyone talks about the need for peace, and many organizations are committed to trying to bring peace to the world.

"Certainly, they can do much, but they cannot make peace," he said. While saying that "prayer as a source of peace in our contemporary world seems unusual and perhaps even lame," he added that, if peace is order, harmony and understanding, then it must begin in the heart of each individual.

"This interior peace cannot come except when one is at peace with God," he had said.

Cardinal Daoud's death leaves the College of Cardinals with 211 members, 123 of whom are under the age of 80 and therefore eligible to vote in a conclave to elect a new pope.

I know someone of you loyal TPC readers would raise up their arms and would shout Anathema sit to this liturgical abuse.  Ok, keep your hothead cool, will yah?  A liturgical abuse IS a liturgical abuse but it is not a heretical act.  And stop using those words!  Only a bishop and an ecumenical council can do that!

Share your reasons why WOMEN ARE NOT ALLOWED to have their feet washed on Holy Thursday.

This priest here either was absent during his class in Theology or simply was taught dumb things by a liturgical innovator in his seminary who flaunts the, uhm...."rites of Vatican II", if their is ever one.

Oh, yeah.  Annibale taught so.
