GULP Alert: Liturgical Bad Taste! UTTERLY HIDEOUS

Found in the Chapel of the La Sallian Martyrs, Taft Avenue, Manila

Bad taste...really!

Hideous and devoid of anything spiritual or Catholic!

My friend commented upon seeing this...

"That is one big ROSTRUM!"

I told him, "Yeah not bad!  Not sure if Congress or even our TV networks would want this!"

Imagine newscasters behind it.  Ugh!  Still...UGLY!

And you think you have seen everything?

No it does not look like a crucifix!  It looks like some voodoo thing!

Presenting the prototype of George Lucas' newest space craft...

This is where Lagy Gaga delivers his thank you speech after receiving her award!  This was designed by Peter Parker...

Even for a seminar hall, the place if hideous!

Maybe the ones who designed this have a liturgical magisterium of their own, higher than that of the Pope and even Vatican II...

Art at the service of the liturgy

41. The profound connection between beauty and the liturgy should make us attentive to every work of art placed at the service of the celebration. Certainly an important element of sacred art is church architecture, which should highlight the unity of the furnishings of the sanctuary, such as the altar, the crucifix, the tabernacle, the ambo and the celebrant’s chair. Here it is important to remember that the purpose of sacred architecture is to offer the Church a fitting space for the celebration of the mysteries of faith, especially the Eucharist. The very nature of a Christian church is defined by the liturgy, which is an assembly of the faithful (ecclesia) who are the living stones of the Church (cf. I Pet 2:5).

This same principle holds true for sacred art in general, especially painting and sculpture, where religious iconography should be directed to sacramental mystagogy. A solid knowledge of the history of sacred art can be advantageous for those responsible for commissioning artists and architects to create works of art for the liturgy. Consequently it is essential that the education of seminarians and priests include the study of art history, with special reference to sacred buildings and the corresponding liturgical norms. Everything related to the Eucharist should be marked by beauty. Special respect and care must also be given to the vestments, the furnishings and the sacred vessels, so that by their harmonious and orderly arrangement they will foster awe for the mystery of God, manifest the unity of the faith and strengthen devotion.
 Sacramentum Caritatis
Pope Benedict XVI - February 22, 2007

124. Ordinaries, by the encouragement and favor they show to art which is truly sacred, should strive after noble beauty rather than mere sumptuous display. This principle is to apply also in the matter of sacred vestments and ornaments.

Let bishops carefully remove from the House of God and from other sacred places those works of artists which are repugnant to faith, morals, and Christian piety, and which offend true religious sense either by depraved forms or by lack of artistic worth, mediocrity and pretense.

All artists who, prompted by their talents, desire to serve God’s glory in Holy Church, should ever bear in mind that they are engaged in a kind of sacred imitation of God the Creator, and are concerned with works destined to be used in Catholic worship, to edify the faithful, and to foster their piety and their religious formation.

What the Church really thinks about Masons!

Thanks to the great Fr. Z, of What does the prayer really say?, for reminding us all of this.

CONGREGATION FOR THE DOCTRINE OF THE FAITH

DECLARATION ON MASONIC ASSOCIATIONS

It has been asked whether there has been any change in the Church’s decision in regard to Masonic associations since the new Code of Canon Law does not mention them expressly, unlike the previous Code.
This Sacred Congregation is in a position to reply that this circumstance in due to an editorial criterion which was followed also in the case of other associations likewise unmentioned inasmuch as they are contained in wider categories.
Therefore the Church’s negative judgment in regard to Masonic association remains unchanged since their principles have always been considered irreconcilable with the doctrine of the Church and therefore membership in them remains forbidden. The faithful who enrol in Masonic associations are in a state of grave sin and may not receive Holy Communion. [This is my emphasis.  And might I add, the Church as well.]
It is not within the competence of local ecclesiastical authorities to give a judgment on the nature of Masonic associations which would imply a derogation from what has been decided above, and this in line with the Declaration of this Sacred Congregation issued on 17 February 1981 (cf. AAS 73 1981 pp. 240-241; English language edition of L’Osservatore Romano, 9 March 1981). [This means local bishops are in no position which lodge is not included in this prohibition.  Therefore, the Sacred Congregation says, this declaration is enough so the local episcopal conferences should just stick to what the Universal magisterium says.  To put it bluntly, shut up and just obey!]
In an audience granted to the undersigned Cardinal Prefect, the Supreme Pontiff John Paul II approved and ordered the publication of this Declaration which had been decided in an ordinary meeting of this Sacred Congregation.

Rome, from the Office of the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, 26 November 1983.

Hmmm...the name of the Prefect looks familiar eh?

So to all those who call themselves Catholic yet persists on joining Masonic lodges, there is a better alternative for you rather than put the eternal salvation of your souls at risk.  If you are looking for an a fraternity that serves others, here is the alternative!

Words of Wisdom: Pope St. Pius X, archenemy of Modernism, ora pro nobis!

"Do not allow yourselves to be deceived by the cunning statements of those who persistently claim to wish to be with the Church, to love the Church, to fight so that people do not leave Her... But judge them by their works. If they despise the shepherds of the Church and even the Pope, if they attempt all means of evading their authority in order to elude their directives and judgments..., then about which Church do these men mean to speak? Certainly not about that established on the foundations of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone." (Eph. 2:20)

GULP ALERT: Troubling...OPEN DISOBEDIENCE

Some priests in St. Peter's openly defy the Pope by giving Communion in the Hand!

And here are some of the comments posted on this particular page of GloriaTV.

The traditional Latin Mass is offered in the same manner everywhere. It does not vary from priest to priest and from church to church. This is so because the Catholic faith is the same everywhere and that true unity of faith MUST be reflected in a TRUE unity of worship as well. It stands to reason that the traditional Mass is absolutely faithful to Catholic teaching and the New Mass is not.

Dear people, let us all be an example to others, (not that we are better) but because we understand the grave consequences of this horrendous scandal of receiving in the hands, where no doubt fragments remain on the hands to be desecrated.   Please continue as has been done for centuries, on the Tongue While Kneeling; let us convey to the priests, bishops and laity that the King of Kings is Due the Utmost Respect, Honor and Glory. Let us make up for the abuses that are so many!  Pray the Holy Father will find the courage to MANDATE that Communion MUST be Received on the TONGUE while KNEELING.

This is a scandal not because of the laity who likiely do NOT know any better but because of the clergy who DO know better but do not care.

Me?

AMEN TO ALL OF THAT!

Those priests ought to be disciplined!

Some Pinoy bishops would not want you to hear this...

include here also Pinoy liturgists, theologians and some Jesuits, but most of the Jesuits I think...I think...

Vincentians and CICM too?

Year in Review

Miss Anita Moore, O.P., Esq. (Third Order Dominican), of V for Victory blog, posted a very nice Year in Review on what has happened in the US of A that concerns American Catholics and other things about her beloved country.

I wish I have the diligence she has...

[Sigh]

Go on over to her nice blog!

Ven. John Paul II may be beatified within the year!

Another dissident theological school in the Philippines to watch out for!

Nope folks. This is no cultural show. This is an actual entrance procession of a Mass in the St. Vincent School of (Dissident) Theology.

The deacon, carrying the Gospel and wearing a weirdly colored stole, is carried on a bamboo platform by four young men, almost resembling the pope on the sedia gestatoria.

They call this an Inculturated Mass, imitating this image of Muslim Filipinos.

Yup, that magic word.  Inculturated!  In a nutty shell, inculturated means "the adaptation of the way Church teachings are presented to non-Christian cultures, and to the influence of those cultures to the evolution of these teachings"  But in this school, it is the other way around.  It is the Church that must have an Asian way of worshiping to make it more "appealing" to the locals.  So don't be surprised if you see other Filipino paganistic rituals end up in any Masses you see in the future from those who attended training in this kind of school.

And you think it stops there.

Here are more liturgical nonsense and to put it plainly, liturgical rebellion from this "catholic" theology school.

"Liturgical" Dancers in "traditional" garb leading the "liturgical" procession, with a bare bamboo cross following.  The cross is bare in that it does not have a corpus or the body of the crucified Christ.

The servers, both men and women, (ugh!) are wearing non-liturgical clothing.  Seriously, I almost lost consciousness trying to think what part of the Mass this is...if it is still the Mass.

The women servers bow down to the priest to present him the incense.  Yup, she is holding what is supposed to be a censer and that thing the guy is holding is what we Pinoys call a "Petromax" or a type of kerosene lamp, quite common in the days when rechargeables are not yet invented.  I STILL do not know why it is there for!  AND I THOUGHT INCULTURATION IS SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOU CLOSER TO THE FAITH!!!

The "Babaylan Musical Troupe".  No, I just made that name up with a dash of sarcasm to it.  Guitars all around.  Not on the official list of liturgical instruments. Ask Cardinal Arinze.

Again, I DO NOT KNOW WHAT PART OF THE MASS THIS IS!  By how it looks, it is a nature dance.  Yup!  In a Catholic Mass!

See the chalice and paten?  Made of ceramics.  Not allowed!  Read here and here.  Do you also see the wicker trays where the hosts are?

And after the liturgical rebellion feast, everybody poses happily for posterity...

Evidence of who took part in the mutilation of the Catholic Mass.  Happy and all smiles!

And here is another surprise, one of the members of the faculty is Bishop Antonio Tobias, the Bishop of Novaliches which incidentally has jurisdiction over this school.  Huh!

And by the way...this school is run by the Vincentians the same congregation that the master of the liturgical revolution after Vatican II came from...Archbishop Annibale Bugnini!

Just so you know.

And...you think it ends eh?

My parish priest is Vincentian.  So that'll give you an idea where I am from.  Ha!

One Christmas Eve Mass, my dear Cure' said in his homily that "Christmas is about the giving of one's self just like the Father giving His Only Begotten Son to the world."  Ok, so far so good.

But into the homily, he said that we will do something special during Holy Communion.  So we all awaited.  After the Agnus Dei, he told us that two lines will be formed when receiving communion.  He said that when he gives Communion, it will ONLY be on the HAND and not on the tongue and not kneeling!  A clear violation of liturgical norms since communion on the tongue IS the NORM and on the HAND is an INDULT, meaning an exception to the rule.  Next, that the one who receives the Host must not consume it immediately but must give it to the one on his/her side.  And the one who receives reciprocates!   That makes EVERYONE an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.

I wish there are liturgical prisons for abusers such as this!  I surely am praying!

Sorry, but I had a bad sampling of Vincentians.  And with this theology school in the country, I do not expect to find any good ones any sooner.  I pray I find one.

I will blog more about this School of DISSIDENT Roman Catholic Theology in the future.

Keep you posted.

PS  :   You might also ask your priest, brother, nun, and lay leaders where they had their theological training.  If they came from either of these three (Maryhill, Euntes and St. Vincent) you be sure that they will be AGAINST anything before Vatican II and anything that the Holy Father says.  THEY ARE THEIR OWN POPES!

Thank God we do not have this paper in the country...but!

...we have dissident theologians teaching filth in "catholic" theology schools like Maryhill, Euntes and the new forerunner for Liturgical Dissent and Liberation Theology...St. Vincent School of Theology in Tandang Sora, Quezon City.

I will show you proof later of what I am talking about.

GULP Exam: Who and what is going on here?!

"Traditional" car blessing at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage aka Antipolo Church.

I will rant about this in later...

I have tons of GULP posts I forgot to comment on.

Oh well. Rants...

Anticipated Mass

What is up with this!

I went to Mass with my family yesterday afternoon to celebrate the Liturgy of January 1, The Feast of Mary the Mother of God.

What we had instead was the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord!  We went into an anticipated Mass!

Don't get me wrong.  It's not that I hate the Epiphany but why have an anticipated Mass for the day which we must celebrate the Motherhood of Mary.  On the Missal of John XXIII, January 1 is the Feast of the Circumcision of the Lord, the first moment that our Lord shed His Blood for us!

Now why would we have a short-cut for things, eh?

Guess we did not anticipate the Anticipated Mass, eh?

This whole anticipated Mass thing is getting abused don't you think?
