A priest publicly ridicules the Traditional Latin Mass

When the uninformed makes fun of something he does not know of. What does it make of him?

The priest and the server talk in "swswswwswswssss......" during the TLM?

The priest covers the host and chalice to "emphasize mystery"

Well, if you have this Willie Revillame trying-hard, copy-cat wannabe, yeah, truly, you will lose the sense of mystery!

He says that after Vatican II, you have a more participative Mass. But later on, he says that even if you attend the same Novus Ordo Mass but did not respond, you did not become participative. WHA?!?!?!

This is the priest who ridicules the Mass, when in fact he loves to have dancers in the Mass he celebrates. I wonder if he will celebrate Sunday Mass regularly without the Mass being broadcast on national TV? Hmmm.... Just wondering.

And the TLM makes the mass goers "audiences"?!?! When did you see an entertainment show host "turning his back" on his audience, huh? Try asking FR. MARIO SOBREJUANITE, SSP, yup the name of this priest, to stop looking at the people, to stop orating while he pronounces the prayers, to start praying instead of performing, and let us see who is acting the host and audience?  Don't you love it when Fr. Mario loves making "kuwentong barbero" stories and how he loves to brag how he is so close with Mrs. Henry Sy and how he got his washing machine for free?  Yeah, I saw that episode.  Just, too inappropriate.

Well, for all I know about him, there is something in his surname that makes him NOT LOSE the TV Mass. *wink*  (first two syllables)

Fr. Mario, a word of advice. Think before you talk. You act more stupid than how you mimicked the swishing sound that does not even happen in the Mass you just ridiculed!

See what you get when you have professors who teach rubbish in our seminaries!

And see what you get when priest are too narcissistic!

Try taking him out of TV and in SM Megamall and let's see if he'll still minister to that charismatic group.

SOBRE?

  2. I Used to Like his Inspiring Homilies, but after Seeing this Video He needs to skip his "show" for One Sunday to Assist The TLM of Fr Zerrudo or Fr Ofrasio SJ!!
(I assisted the Latter last Thursday)

OH IS THAT THE ONE IN YOUR OWN WORDS:"The One who would NOT let go of His Racket...este...Mass"?(I am Paraphrasing your Blind Item)

  3. Honestly, he is not alone in making such comment because i think majority of Priest here in the Philippines have the same kind of mindset like when it comes to the Traditional Latin Mass. By mocking the TLM he have already mocked and humiliated those who became Saints at this Mass for the reason that they have become Audience :P

  4. Modernist priest! TLM and Modern Roman Rite are the treasures of our Church. Hindi pwedeng 1 lang ang mahalin kundi both rites must be honor.

I used to watch his Mass on TV when I was in College I like the Mass Songs after I realized about Liturgical Abuse I realized that it is not appropriate. Liturgical Dancers is an abusive form no matter what they are blabbering.
Participative? It doesn't mean that TLM must be rejected.
Pausok? hahaha no wonder I don't see him use the incense during his Mass even in special Sunday occasions. Does he hate incense?

    1. The TLM is more participative than you'll even know because you pray with the priest, IN SILENCE, and you have to be aware of what is happening in the sanctuary, not like Fr. SOBREjuanite's Mass where you just sit back and watch for whatever happens in his Mass, what the dancers will do, the jokes and endless banter of pointless homilies he preaches, the mob of eager EMHCs serving when their number is disproportionate to the number of people attending the Mass. Yes, I had been to his Masses and you'll think there is a convention of EMHCs in Megamall.

  5. Last 2 Sundays ago, After we served the Mass me and my fellow acolytes watched his Mass together with our Chaplain,
Our Chaplain criticized his liturgical Abuses and of course his Liturgical Dancers. It seems inappropriate for having liturgical dancers in Mass thus making it an Entertainment rather than Holy.
We noticed that the way he preaches to his audience oh I mean the congregation he jumps from one topic to the other not going straight to the point.

  8. I know that Sir TPC and those who follow this blog would be able to cite church documents and religious books to smack the rubbish this priest is saying regarding the Traditional Latin Mass. I leave the citing to them. So let me just share my personal experience regarding the TLM, which through the grace of God I have been hearing for a year now. First in the TLM, I cross myself a lot of times and it is done on cue. So how am I a mere audience if I am FOLLOWING the mass to know which part to cross myself. Plus the TLM has more "physical calisthenics" than the ordinary mass. And again this is done ON CUE, so how will you become non-participating if YOU ARE FOLLOWING THE MASS to know when to kneel, sit or stand? They may argue that this things has become mechanical in the extraordinary mass, but hey, there are some mechanical church goers in ordinary masses too. At least in the old mass, every time a person kneels (granting that he is doing it mechanically) I bet at least he is quite aware that something HOLY is happening in the altar that needs to be revered.
He said that in the old mass the consecration is being "hidden" from the people because the old emphasized on the mystery. If I will go along with his argument, it would follow that in the ordinary mass the "mystery" is not anymore "hidden" but EXPOSED to the congregation. Then why are there some people who doesn't kneel DURING CONSECRATION in some ordinary masses(specially those who are hearing mass at the sides of the church). I had a conversation with priest in Quiapo and he laments how people would just pass by at the church even during consecration. Why is this happening if the mystery is not a mystery anymore? If the people are supposedly more aware now that IT IS CHRIST HIMSELF PRESENT IN THE HOST during consecration....why the irreverence? I am not here to argue the ordinary mass, what i am just trying to say is that this priest's argument CAN'T HOLD WATER.

  9. My goodness. This adds to my stress as a college student (and also reminds me to pray the Rosary even more)!

The priest covering the chalice and the Host? Barbero. SWSWS??! Simula pa lang ng nakita ko sa TV yung Misa, alam ko na na may hindi tama.

I remember a priest here in DLSU telling me that Summorum Pontificum is "hindi na ginagawa". We also have a guest priest in our village chapel who makes the congregation clap after every Gloria because it's Glory to God in the Highest, and during the sign of peace he would circle around the church to shake hands with ALL of us. He even modifies the prayers of the mass, and shortens it! He even criticizes jeweled pectoral crosses and crowned images of the Blessed Mother.

If they want entertainment, there are a lot of comedy bars out there. Yes, the Mass is a celebration, but it is also the sacrifice of Jesus in Calvary. The EF is participative; people pray with the priest. It is not priest-centered, but God-centered. Nobody modifies the prayers, the priest follows the prayers that are in the missal. People receive Jesus with respect and love, not like the usual "lay ministers" who give Jesus to people like an ordinary wafer, and people receive Him like catching a dragonfly.

  10. It's his arguments for "participative" masses that sounds like it was a sermon delivered in the 1560s when the Reformation was full steam ahead!

  11. Can it be said that this over-emphasis on "participation" is already included in the Vatican II document on the Liturgy, Sacrosanctum Concilium :
"In the restoration and promotion of the sacred liturgy, this full and active participation by all the people is the aim to be considered BEFORE ALL ELSE..."?
Come on ! active participation should be "brought to mind" or even be "taught" and "encouraged" but no way is it "before all else" the "aim" - as if no-one had ever tried it before! Before ALL else? Before Tradition, Theology, Reverence, Hierarchy... etc.? The seed for this outrageous attack on the Mass was sown long ago!

  12. "madaming pausok... may sense of MAGIC..."
My good Lord, is that how he views the Scared Mysteries?!
This particular type of priest, needs more lecturing.
He is breeding animosity to the great Traditions of our Church.

Does silence mean that you are not participating consciously?
The lack of silence in contemporary society is making many people’s lives “more agitated and at times convulsed,” Pope Benedict XVI has said.

  13. The nominees for "Modernist Catholic Priest Award" are FR. MARIO SOBREJUANITE, SSP and FR. SAJU GEORGE, SJ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lpfl_gkWiDM and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IY1JwjzLv4).

And the winner is...WAIT there are other nominees...Ha! Ha!

  14. You will see also notice how Ignorant this Priest for telling the Holy Mass "Before" Vatican II. Excuse the Pauline Mass or Novus Ordo was only promulgated in 1969 3 years after Vatican II. Here in the Philippines till 1970 Traditional Latin Mass was still celebrated because Cardinal Rufino Santos refused to implement the Holy Mass until he concelebrated at the Holy Mass Forma Ordinaria with the visit of Pope Paul VI in 1970. Here is really what you get in the Seminary after all good thing i left out

  15. Please write to His superior and Archbishop Tagle regarding this issue so that a particular disciplinary or corrective action must be done.

and please treat each issue no matter what it is accordingly, we are all human and if you really love God then I think we all know that this is not the way to correct the priest.

In matthew 18 it is clearly stated:

15 “If your brother or sister[b] sins,[c] go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’[d] 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
18 “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be[e] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[f] loosed in heaven.

19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

IF HE SAY WRONG THINGS, LET HIS BISHOP CORRECT HIM AND NOT RIDICULE HIM! ALTER CHRISTUS? DO YOU KNOW THAT TERM??? TO ALL ROMAN CATHOLICS IN UNION WITH THE HOLY FATHER WHO COMMENTED BAD THINGS TO THIS PRIEST, SHAME TO YOU! SHAME TO YOU!DOWN WITH SEDEVANCANTISTS AND PHARASAICAL TRADITIONALISTS! ANATHEMA SIT!

    2. Unknown, surely you know that his liturgical abuses are very much NOT unknown. He "celebrates" his Mass like "Walang Tulogan" of Kuya Germs. Trust me. I have been to his masses and it is horrible.

    3. Calm down. You obviously don't know what you're talking about. Why do the likes of you, including this priest, seem to have an axe to grind with the Traditional Latin Mass, something you (again, including that priest), obviously, have zero knowledge about?

As to your rant "... not subjected to judge this priest, blah, blah, blah), here's what ST. THOMAS AQUINAS said:

"If the faith is in imminent peril, prelates ought to be accused by their subjects, even in public."-St. Thomas Aquinas

      Another one:

"The laity are given this special vocation: to make the Church present and fruitful in those places and circumstances where it is only through them that she can become the salt of the earth." -Lumen Gentium Ch.4

So, there! That's a good information for you. It's free, so read it.

  18. I know this priest and he is certainly not just a liturgical abuser, but, if I may say so, a liturgical criminal. He spends most of the time of his "homily" for nonsense. He should be disciplined like many if not most of the priests in the Archdiocese of Manila.

  21. is it OK then to call them Pentecostal Catholics?

    ReplyDelete
  22. that is not the correct way to approach the old Rite, in my own opinion such approach is a heretical approach. the old Rite in itself is a treasure. anyone who say other wise is an idiot, what kind of thinking is that? The Novus Ordo owe's its humble beginnings to the old Rite both Rite are treasures. that Priest is not acting in Persona Christi.
