Lima, Peru, Jun 30, 2010 / 06:06 pm (EWTN News) - During Mass on the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul, the Archbishop of Lima, Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani said Pope Benedict XVI may be remembered as “the Pope of the Eucharist and of love for the splendor of the Liturgy.”
During his homily he thanked the Holy Father for a pontificate characterized by a special emphasis on the sacrament of the Eucharist. [because the way we prayed eroded our belief in the Eucharist.]
“We have seen over the years how he affectionately leads us to the Eucharist, the heart of the Christian life, the source of the Church’s mission of evangelization, and which must always be the center and source of service that has been entrusted to her,” the cardinal said.
Cardinal Cipriani noted that Catholics, nourished and sustained by the Eucharist, have the duty to always keep themselves in full unity with Christ, and recalled that the Holy Father exhorts Catholics to intensify their love and devotion to Jesus in the Eucharist, expressing their faith with courage and clarity, above all with solemn celebrations properly carried out. [Lex orandi, lex credendi!]
The cardinal urged the faithful to pray for the Pope, for bishops, priests and religious.

The way the Mass was celebrated in the years after Vatican II completely eroded the way we believe in the Eucharist. A lot of people lost their belief in the Real Presence. Communion in the Hand greatly contributed to it!
So join me in my personal crusade to petition the Holy Father to STOP COMMUNION IN THE HAND.
Click the Petition on the left side bar and spike the numbers. Time to work folks to restore the sacred in our churches!
