Carlos Celdran, we are still waiting!!!

It has been a week since I issued a challenge to Carlos Celdran. He reacted in one of my posts but haven not in the open challenge I issued to him.

I will be counting the days and will continue to do so until you are really man enough to stand up for what you are fighting for!

In case you forgot what the challenge is, here it is:

I WILL JOIN YOU IN YOUR CRUSADE IF YOU WILL DO WHAT YOU DID AT THE MANILA CATHEDRAL BUT THIS TIME INSIDE A MOSQUE AND AN IGLESIA NI CRISTO TEMPLE.

Fair deal?  I think so.

The INC is notorious for forcing their members who to vote for and for influencing government policies on going against just about anything that the Catholic Church supports or bans.  Take their brain busting stand on the RH Bill and calling the rhythm method "unnatural". Muslim Imams of the Philippines also expressed their opposition for the RH Bill. So I think Celdran should protest their meddling too.

If you think what you are fighting for is right and worth dying for, then put your money where your mouth is!

We all want to see you tell the same message to the faces of the INC ministers and imams "to stay the hell out of politics!"

Fair deal?  I think so.

I will be waiting.

  1. Your church's involvement in state affairs is a violation of my rights.

  2. It is ironic that you use fair play as your argument, anyone who has studied history will know that the Catholic Church is not famous for their fairness.

I grew up Catholic, am Spanish Filipina and still uphold the core values I learned growing up. However, I cannot ignore the injustices of the church as an organization. I will not get into this as this is an entirely separate subject.

With respect the challenge you have posed to Carlos Celdran, I believe his stand is pretty clear. He will not in a mosque or INC because neither threatened excommunication or civil disobedience.

The Jesus I grew up knowing and loving would not stand for this kind of bullying, or for knowingly keeping the less fortunate misinformed.

  3. So if Carlos doesn't do this, you won't join in the "crusade" against the meddling of the much more influential Catholic church to the Philippine government? You will just stand idly by and do nothing? And if he does, you'll join him, even if you don't believe in what he's standing up for?

    Ok.

But you should probably be reminded that this issue isn't about Carlos, or the people who support/challenge the RH Bill. It's about the RH Bill itself. Maybe it will be better if you go and put your focus on that.

  4. Wow. Either you guys are seriously demented or you guys are just high on drugs.

Carlos Celdran protested in a Church because:
    1. It houses/represents the most influential religion in the country.
    2. That influential religion ALWAYS meddled in Philippine politics.
    3. Such examples include their lobby against Rizal Bill, Divorce, RH Bill and several others.
    4. These bills, however, actually contribute good to the country - despite being against their dogma.
    5. He is frustrated that the Church wields much power over the people and uses it to cram THEIR belief down everyone else's throats.
    6. He is further frustrated that such a brilliant institution lacks the ability to reflect and reform for the betterment of its members.
    6. He is further frustrated that this "2000-year-old institution from which wisdom is endless," fails to think outside the box [or book, for that matter] and see the real problem.

He did not protest at Mosques and/or Iglesias because:
    1. They are not as influential as the RCC.
    2. They do not meddle in LAW-MAKING BODIES; if they do, the effect is minimal.
    3. If they do appear on national television, they voice their stance. PERIOD. no more, no less. definitely no excommunication threats. no call for civil disobedience, either.

They may influence votes but even Catholicism does that and that's not the issue, is it?

The issue here is the denial of rights to information informed decisions, and protection to Filipinos.

Muslims and Iglesian's may ignore their Church's requests to block-vote because at the end of the day, they can decide for themselves. They are, in no way, bound to conform to their Church - their rights are still intact.

Besides, Muslims and Iglesian's do not do lasting damages to the rights of their members AND non-members.

Catholicism, on the other hand... ahem.

Catholics - and the rest of the Filipinos, however, are denied [by the blackmail-reminiscent actions of the Church] of the opportunity to be educated in matters of sex in a controlled classroom setting where an expert will discuss important points about sex [clearing misconceptions about contraceptives, enumerating ALL methods of natural and artificial family planning, talking about how to keep one's body healthy, etc.].

And yes, the biggest stakeholder here is the poor who has no internet to learn that condoms do not protect against ALL diseases; an inkling on proper usage of other contraceptives; nor a clear understanding of sex. The poor who their God chose to dwell with.

  5. WOW! I commend you for such a strong and powerful message! I admire your passion to express your opinion on the Carlos Celdran matter. But there is one minor issue that boggles me.

Why is your blog anonymous? Since, you mentioned "manhood". I would think then that Carlos WAS man enough to stand up for what he believed, right or wrong--he STILL stood up. So shouldn't this apply to you as well? Can you stand up and identify yourself to your readers and to Carlos? Surely, its a basic human right to know his accuser, noh? I mean, I would feel foolish to be answering grave accusations when I don't know who threw them. That's like throwing punches at bubbles!

Also, if you have something to say to Carlos and cannot find him, this might help you. Here is his URL on FB:

    http://www.facebook.com/#!/carlos.celdran

You can take up your concerns DIRECTLY to him instead of waiting for him to come to you. That would be the "MAN"ly think to do right? Harapin mo kaya siya?

I want to take you seriously but if you are hiding under a pseudo name this becomes a bogus blog..If you are really serious about your challenges then COME OUT IN THE OPEN!! In the event that Carlos takes up your challenge and plans to meet you at a mosque or INC, shouldn't he KNOW who is gonna meet him there? The last thing we want on the internet is another faceless, nameless rambler that has so much to say but no face to show...

BTW, My name is Lei and when I blog strongly about something, I'm not afraid to stand by what I say and I can say it STRAIGHT to the person so no need to use an alias. How about you?

  7. The Imam of the muslims in Mindanao expressed their dislike for condoms and contraceptives.
Celdran gives out condoms to the tourists, according to an article by his lady friend. This is an insult to them. Does he presume they came for sex escapades and not to see the sites and learn our country's culture? What culture will he make them see - that the Filipinos are sex maniacs? Does he expect them to go to prostitution dens, hence the condoms? Shame on him.

  8. Do it yourself! why make a challenge when you can make a grand standing?

  9. I will not reveal my identity until Carlos Celdran answers my challenge. Since most of those who answer here are his admirers, why don't you tell your Catholic hating guru about my challenge.

  10. @Lei

Oh yeah. You obviously have a face. I can see it in your profile. So "man"ly of you.

  11. I agree. Ang tagal Carlos! Ang dali lang naman nang solution dito eh. To Catholics who disagree. Tingin nyo may impluwensiya pa yang Simbahang iyan? Sabihin nyo dyan kay Noynoy at sa mga pulitikong iyan nevermind the Church just doh it! Tignan na lang natin sakabilang buhay kung sinong tama o mali. Panalangin nyo lang mali yang mga Katolikong iyan.

  12. This is laughable. Why can't the so-called Catholic-haters continue to lambast the Church when in fact you owe to this organization the freedom you are enjoying today!!!!

What happened if the Church did not "meddle" sometime Feb 25, 1986 in EDSA? Don't you think it was ALL wrong the cardinal did? Separation of Church and state really huh... Don't be selective people!

Just tell Carlos to take the challenge if he is really convicted.

I firmly believe he did this for stunts -- plain and simple. Oh, it left a bad taste!

  13. Carlosssss, yuhoooooo! tagal mo sumagot! bading k ba or takot k lng tlaga?

    @Lei

In the event that Carlos takes up your challenge and plans to meet you at a mosque or INC, shouldn't he KNOW who is gonna meet him there? Ans: Well of course, the Imams (Mosque) and INC Ministers (INC)!

  14. I find it funny and "ironic" how many heretical catholics always begin their comment with "I am Catholic" then proceed to enumerate how "bad" the catholic church because of its "injustices", and how they "meddle"in politics and how their doctrines are "bad"for the people"(like excommunication) blah blah blah. The garbage they spew only means they never did exert any effort to learn the doctrines of the catholic faith and they call themselves Catholic! But hey its okay for the Iglesia ni Cristo and the Muslims to meddle in politics to be against that bill or that bill or whatever... and why pray tell is the reason? BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT CATHOLIC!!! and to the heretics only the Catholic church is evil and they can never do anything good or right!!
BUT THANK GOD FOR THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, THE ONLY ORGANIZATION THAT STANDS FOR GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT, as Jesus said no evil, no matter how insidious, can ever destroy her even if from within, and with good, loyal and true Catholics ready to stand to defend her, she shall prevail against all evil!

  15. I am a Catholic in Heart and in Mind. How could you treat the Chucrh which allows your children and grandchildrens to live? Don't you remember that without the Catholic Church there would be no democracy until now!!!!! The Church didn't do this for her own good but for ours!! The Church only protects the sanctity of Life and the Sanctity of Marriage which will be violated if this bill is passed!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. This RH Bill will result to immorality if passed in the Lower House or in the Senate!!

  17. kaya pinili ni celdran mag-DAMASO simbahan ay dahil gusto niyang maraming media ang maka-cover sa gagawin niya at pagpapasensyahan lang siya. eh kung sa iglesia o sa mosque niya gagawin iyon, baka mabugbog siya, eh di masisira na kara niya. me ambisyon kayang mag-artista yan? he he he...

  18. Celdran won't do what you said Albergi because he is a homo.

  19. Some people here are so ignorant on many counts.

    Just a couple of points:

    1. The CATHOLIC CHURCH is THE LARGEST CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION IN THE WORLD WITHOUT WHICH (ITS HOSPITALS, ORPHANAGES, EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, RELIEF MISSIONS, etc. go figure...) MOST GOVERNMENTS (INCLUDING THE PHILIPPINES AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA) WILL BE SEVERELY PARALYZED TO ATTEND TO THE WELFARE OF ITS CITIZENS.

    2. IF THERE IS AN INSTITUTION THAT WILL FIGHT TO DEATH TO PROTECT YOUR NOW-CHERISHED FREEDOMS - IT IS THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. PLEASE OBSERVE THE CURRENT DEVELOPMENTS ON THE HSS MANDATE IN THE U.S.A AND HOW CATHOLICS AND OTHER RELIGIONS ARE FIGHTING A BATTLE AGAINST THE END OF CIVIL RIGHTS AS WE KNOW IT.

By the way, I am not angry I just find it hard to type from a netbook and all caps is more easy.
