Pinoy Nuns want to be "mystic-prophets"

From CBCP News

DAVAO CITY, Sept. 3, 2009─The members of the Sisters’ Association in Mindanao (SAMIN) seek to become “mystic prophets” as they are in constant search for the truth in the midst of half-truths and outright lies today. [You get this funny feeling where all this talk is heading.]

SAMIN Executive Secretary Elsa C. Compuesto, MSM said the people’s mystical quest to bring about the kingdom of God here on Earth is drowned out by the reign of untruth.

“We, as mystics, reject it. As mystic-prophets we are called to denounce as well as to announce, [Denounce what?  Announce what?] to lament as well as to celebrate and to decry as well as to hope. [What? What? What?] We resolve to carry on with greater intensity the reasons for our unity [and what or who is the reason for your unity?] as Sisters in Mindanao for the next two years,” she said, referring to the statement they made last August 29 for their 18th Congress.

The sisters vowed to continue their thrust especially: [Cover your nose. This one will stink!]

“To uphold human dignity; [How?]

To protect national sovereignty and patrimony; [Are you enlisted in the army?  are you 4th degree KofC?]

To integrate eco-feminism [Sounds more pagan than Christian to me.] as a core value in their formation, advocacies and missions; [These types of congregations are a dying breed.] and,

To actively work for meaningful change during the upcoming electoral exercise of 2010 [How?] and pursue systematic social transformation beyond elections.” [Uhh..where is Christ in all of these?]

Compuesto explained that in upholding dignity the sisters will promote and defend human rights, justice, and peace in the face of militarization, displacements, extra-judicial killings, and enforced disappearances. [Are these sisters lawyers?  The only thing that they can do, as I see it, is just to have it exposed in the media.  Then...What?  And most importantly, where are all of these efforts grounded?  Is it grounded on Christian charity?  Are they working for the salvation of the souls of not only the victims but also of the souls of the perpetrators?  This is what you get when "sisters" study Marxism and Eco-Feminism than the Catechism.]

“We shall renew our commitment to peace based on justice amidst oppressive and exploitative situations that perennially threaten the Anawim of Mindanao,” she added. [How about commitment to your vows?  By the way...what vows do these sisters profess?]

Compuesto also said that the sisters are determined to continue their campaign against the US-RP Visiting Forces Agreement and other unequal treaties that have kept the Filipinos in bondage as a nation.

“We shall intensify our work to denounce the Mining Act of 1995 and advocate the People’s Alternative Mining Policy,” said Compuesto.

The sisters also promised to continue to work for gender sensitivity by giving special focus on the empowerment and emancipation of women and to remain vigilant against moves to change the Constitution.

“We shall not retreat in our demand for morality in governance. As mystic-prophets, we joyfully search the truth of Jesus Christ and proclaim His message of liberation to the poor,” [Liberation theology...a dying breed...Liberation from the bondage of sin, THAT is what Christ came here not your Marxist cum South American form of liberation!] said Compuesto, adding:

“We do this on the wings of our life and work for the past 26 years, sailing on with God’s generous Jubilee blessings towards another decade of accompanying the poor, deprived, oppressed and the marginalized.”

The sisters gathered at San Lorenzo Ruiz Pastoral Center in Butuan City. (Mark S. Ventura)

I have met and personally know some sisters who talk the same way.

Just as I ask before, "Do you need to pronounce religious vows to pursue these causes?"

I have two words for these kind of nuns.... "IDENTITY CRISIS"
