First blessing: Rare sight!

After the ordination of a canon of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest.

and even the cappa magna of a cardinal is a rare sight but not abolished!

First blessings such as this are traditionally done by the ordained.

But I have seen photos of ordinations in Manila Cathedral where the newly ordained, all six of them, just pronounces the final blessing after the Ordination Mass, and no personal blessing and kissing of the hand was done.

Why do away with such a wonderful tradition?
