The blog of a group of Filipino Catholics and their frank commentary on anything that affects their lives as a citizen of the Philippines and as a Roman Catholics.
It was about the role and office of a priest. The celebrant-priest spoke about the special relationship of priests with the laity and God especially as they are the ones who can validly consecrate the Eucharist (with a reference to why women cannot be priests since the Church does not have the power to make them so). Much time was spent on reminding the congregation about the human frailties of priests and even though they can offer Mass, this act does not mean they do not need to seek reconciliation in the sacrament. The homilist concluded that the Body and Blood of Christ in the Mass is the center of Catholic faith and even with their weaknesses priests are the people by which Christ becomes truly one of us. Thus we should pray for our priests and even for more vocations to the priesthood.
