I heard from very close friends of a Filipino priest who is one of a very few who are devoted to the Extraordinary Form of the Mass of how the holy priest died. Sadly, it was with a broken heart. Here is the account of one of his friends who he talked with before the very untimely demise of the priest.
The priest was called by his bishop for a meeting. The priest had no idea why his bishop called him. He later shared that his bishop is ordering him to stop celebrating the EF even though the Holy Father liberalized its celebration with his Motu Propio, Summorum Pontificum. The priest did not elaborate what the bishop said but he went home and told the story with a very heavy heart. A few hours later, the priest suffered a massive stroke which eventually led to his untimely death a day after.
As if it were not enough, his fellow priests who celebrated his Requiem refused priests who know how to celebrate the EF Mass, to offer the EF Mass for the repose of the late priest.
The funeral Mass was celebrated using the Ordinary Form.
Now I cannot find the words as to why the bishop and his priests are rabidly against the EF. I'll stop typing lest I begin sinning. Pray for the eternal repose of the priest. Pray that the bishop and his priests. Pray for the return of the sense of the sacred in the liturgy.
P.S.: This happened in the Philippines just recently among Filipinos (bishops and priests).
