Lone Galero
It is a sight to behold really being the only cardinal's galero of the Philippines!
If St. Patrick's Cathedral of New York has four cardinals' galeros hanging from the ceiling right above the sanctuary of the cathedral, this is the lone cardinal's galero in Manila Cathedral. This is the galero of the late Rufino Cardinal Santos of Manila, the first Filipino elevated to the cardinalate. Reportedly, he is a lover of the TLM and was one of the last bishops of the Philippines to implement the liturgical reforms of Vatican II in his own diocese. Jaime Cardinal Sin is also buried in the Basilica-Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, aka Manila Cathedral, but he does not have his galero suspended as I think he did not purchase his own galero. Click on the photo to view the full size and see the galero.
