A year since the announcement in Latin that was heard around the world.
During his farewell speech to the College of Cardinals last 28 FEB 2013, he ended his touching speech with the following lines:
E tra voi, tra il Collegio Cardinalizio, c’è anche il futuro Papa al quale già oggi prometto la mia incondizionata reverenza ed obbedienza.
(And among you, the college of Cardinals, there is the future Pope to whom today I already promise my unconditional reverence and obedience.)
Wow! What a show of humility and the exact opposite of how mundane powers would grasp at power until they can. in contrast, Benedict showed us that power is for service, and should be given up when one is already incapacitated to fulfill the office.
Thank you Lord for the gift of Benedict XVI to the universal Church.
My Sister,a born-again christian informed me on such a Sad Evening as I was at Home.
