Pope Francis stopped a few minutes in prayer before the tomb of Pope John XXIII, who was beatified by John Paul II in 2000. Today marks the 50th anniversary of the death of the "Good Pope". John XXIII authored the encyclical "Pacem in Terris" and was the leading promoter of the Second Vatican Council.
Pope Francis invited everyone to imitate John XXIII's peace and obedience.
[Pope John's episcopal motto was Pax et Obidentia.]
