The body of His Eminence Jose Cardinal Sanchez
Shared to me via email by a brother Knight who visited the wake of His Eminence.
Pray for the eternal repose of the cardinal's soul.
I thought only Popes have the privilege of being buried red and gold vestments? Aren't cardinals suppose to still wear purple? Although plus points for the damask simplex miter
No. Popes and cardinals are buried in red vestments with a simple white damask miter. This is the right vesture for the body of a dead cardinal, as compared to Cardinal Sin's which was clothed in gold vestments.

ReplyDeleteShouldn't he be wearing a pallium? I think he reigned his see long before becoming a Cardinal?
