Holy Communion in the Hand does not promote a sense of the sacred
FACT CHECK: THE PHILIPPINES DOES NOT HAVE AN INDULT!
What I know is that Cardinal Sin gave permission to have communion by the hand in his archdiocese as a public health conecrn as a result of SARS. The other dioceses then followed. Now that the threat of SARS is gone, we should be going back to the traditional practice.
But SARS was very recent, Doc Ben. My first experience of Communion in the Hand was in 1991! I think the Pinoy bishops who allowed this are doing a Suennens.
We have this man in our parish receive the host on the tongue. He goes to the line to take another in the hand and vice-versa. The CBCP could petition for indult, but am praying they will not do it.

ReplyDeleteI have observed that when communion is given under both species, people seem to be more devout in receiving Jesus Christ.

ReplyDeleteWhat indult are we talking about here Tayaong Lapis?
ReplyDeleteI think the CHurch should just discard the indult for Communion altogether.
