Milestone of John Paul II's pontificate
The concluding Mass of the 10th World Youth Day held in Manila in 1995 where I was a delegate was mentioned in the video.
During the consecration at the WYD 95 concluding mass I noticed that the torch bearers uses a bamboo stick(I don't know if those were kerosene lamps/candles fastened on the said object) instead of candelabra with candles on it, and the deacon uses a a hand heald- censer during the gospel proclamation rather than with chains. And some Altar Servers are not wearing cassocks Are those polo barongs with a white garment on it?.
My question is this ok and can be accepted in the Catholic liturgy???
hoping for your kind answer... Here's a you tube link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IWpAeMUCPY
P.S. I was impressed by the Message of the Late Pope... May he continue to pray for the Church and the people.
I, too, was a delegate and I can say it was a very momentus and spirit-rejuvenating experience to be with the great Pope JPII on stage. The feeling is very unique and unexplainable. The aura of this holy man radiates to even skeptics and ordinary observers. One must wonder what would be the feeling in the presence of Jesus especially when he hold you!
