I read this report about the CBCP's invitation to the Holy Father to grace the National Congress of the Clergy in January next year. The University of Sto. Tomas, the oldest in Asia, also invited Benedict XVI to the Dominican-run pontifical university’s 400th anniversary in 2011.
This is the second invitation extended by the Filipino bishops to the pope, who declined an offer last year to make a side trip to the Philippines from his visit to Australia for the World Youth Day in July 2008.
I am just praying ang hoping that this will happen and the Philippines be graced by the presence of the Holy Father. Maybe after the presidential elections next year so this current president will not use this event as a mere photo-op.
