I see many wear polo and pants, or worse, a shirt with no collar and jeans. You just don't know if they're clergy or one of the laity. At first I was also a bit uncomfortable wearing the clerical shirt, but now I am used to it (I have to still get used to wearing the cassock outside though). And no, I am not Catholic, but Orthodox clergy.Rodianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16006118485660609276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8918598045168602139.post-58204831608351902412011-09-19T15:36:58.904+08:002011-09-19T15:36:58.904+08:00Black cassocks don't really represent death,

For the priest it is a symbol of presiding authority like a judge wears a black robe to preside the trial.
And it is a norm while white cassocks is an exception, even altar servers, Lay or Seminarians would wear black cassocks during the Mass.Kebhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15740763806265128372noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8918598045168602139.post-90865232678498047742011-09-17T06:46:42.578+08:002011-09-17T06:46:42.578+08:00Every profession has their own unique uniforms. A camouflage uniform for military and even those employees in public and private offices. Uniform is our identity on who we are.

If you are working in an office and you didnt wear your uniform then you might get a memo for not wearing one right?

But in a religious or in clerical people the garb and habit is much more than uniform. For franciscans the habit is their way of life that is why they call it as habit. The color is either gray or brown because it is a symbol of humility, the color of the earth (soil).

The black cassock represents death. That when they were ordained they also died on their secular life and they will die for Christ as priests.pandzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01908839373696432547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8918598045168602139.post-34327138469067237022011-09-14T23:47:38.910+08:002011-09-14T23:47:38.910+08:00The Filipino Anglican priests I know are always in...The Filipino Anglican priests I know are always in clerical dress.
