New ferula

Pope Francis seems to be fond of ferulas, using almost a new one in each of his public Masses, like this image from the Mass of the Lord's Supper.

Honorable Congressman Fariñas doing the unthinkable while with the Pope

Cong. Fariñas even called it the selfie of his life.

Well, who gets to have a selfie with a reigning pope, no?

But watch how he got the selfie.

So much class!

That woman who was greeting the pope he just rudely interrupted is the Philippine Ambassador to the Vatican, Mercedes Tuazon.

And he did not interrupt just the ambassador.  He also did it to the pope.

What do you expect of him?

The ring of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

I can't help my trained eye to notice what the pope emeritus was wearing during the Canonization Mass.

You have to click the image for a larger view.

As most of us knew now, the pope emeritus is not wearing the Piscatorial Ring anymore, of course, since he is not the reigning pope.

As you can see, he is wearing a different ring.

Here is a close-up of his ring.

And you can see his papal coat of arms on the cane.  No, he is not pope anymore so stop that conspiracy theory.

And here is another image of the pope emeritus and his ring.

And here is the close up of that ring.

It is called the Conciliar Ring or the Episcopal Ring of the Council Fathers or more famously known as Vatican II Ring.

Here is another view of the ring.  You can see that this is an open type so it is perfect for anyone with varying ring sizes considering that these rings were made without asking the Council Fathers their ring sizes.

This was given to all the Council Fathers after the closing session of the Council by Pope Paul VI.
(Sedevacantists:  Cue video clip of Sauron giving the rings of power to elves, dwarves and men!)

I personally saw this on one archbishop who was a Council Father.  I kissed it and he let me take a good look at it.

Considering the number of Council Father, I think the material is rather cheap and this is easily done.  The back of this ring open so it can fit any ring size.

But in some aspects, I like the design.

Father Ratzinger was a peritus (expert) for Joseph Cardinal Frings of Cologne.  He certainly was not a Council Father so he definitely did not receive this ring.

This might be from Cardinal Frings or from another bishop.

So, for the liberals, Benedict XVI was a traitor of the Council.  See the ring?

For the traditionalists, he is an apostle of the Council.  Summorum Pontificum?  SSPX reunification efforts?

As far as I can still remember the Pope emeritus is the pope of Christian Unity and of the hermeneutic of continuity.

And even if you produce 1 million Anscar Chupungco's or 1 billion Genaro Diwa, it would still not suffice for one Joseph Ratzinger in terms of sound theology and liturgy.

Continuity (Ratzinger)
Rupture and Innovation (Chupungco and Diwa)

If there is one humble man the whole world is missing with all the hoopla about the simplicity of Pope Francis, it is Benedict XVI.

Only a humble man can admit that he is done enough and it is time to step down.

Preparing for Communion for the Canonization Mass

These were some of the ciboria used for the Canonization Mass.

Have you seen this much ciboria in one Mass?

Not his much actually, but you'll never see that much ciboria used even for a large number of the faithful hearing Mass at either a park like Luneta or an indoor facility like Araneta Coliseum.

We use CHEAP materials for our ciboria, like wood and even PLASTIC in dis-honor with that hot tempered, ill mannered priest who celebrated Mass using Tupperware for a ciborium.

Yes. He did.  I have the photographic evidence.

Point of the matter is this:

We give precious things for the Lord because that is how we show our appreciation to someone we VALUE.  We give VALUABLE THINGS.  (Nahahawa ako kay BOY CAPS LOCK AH!)

With or without the liturgical laws about sacred vessels, with or without what was instructed upon Moses concerning worshiping the Lord at the Temple...

We give him the BEST ALWAYS!

So the next time you see priests using TUPPERWARE or PYREX as ciboria for the Holy Eucharist, or use mass vestments whose market value is way cheaper than the pants or shoes or watch they are wearing, remind them that God sees...all the time!

No amount of reasoning or CAPS LOCKING can make them weasel out of this one.

Reliquaries containing the relics of the two new saint-popes

No hope for Los Angeles?

The annual liturgical and theological dissent festival is still on.

And now this.

And we thought we had hope since he is an Opus Dei prelate.

We thought.

One of my favorite moment in the canonization Mass

The arrival of His Holiness Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

Cardinal Quevedo takes possession of his titular Church

Last Thursday, Cardinal Orlando B. Quevedo, O.M.I., D.D. took possession of his titular Church St. Mary "Regina Mundi" in Torre Spaccata.

See the Benedictine style arrangement of the altar?

RCAM Exorcist celebrates Mass ad orientem in Rome

Yes that is Fr. Jocis Syquia.

Since he belongs to RCAM, will the "great" Fr. Geny Diwa call him to "remind" him of the "fruits of Vatican II"?

Fr. Diwa would reason that this Mass is not "properly inculturated" and not foreseen by "Vatican II".

Yup.  We heard it many times before.

I was there when Fr. Reginald Malicdem insulted and made fun of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI's liturgical reform.  I was not surprised actually.  I was expecting it from him especially since he was "heavily inculturated" at San Beda.

Let's see.

The apostle of Chupungco is not resting.

Mass ad orientem is NOT ILLEGAL!

It will never ever be in the same league as the dancers of Sobrejuanite at SM Megamall!

It will never ever be in the same league as the Protestant musical extravanganza of that Shalom Friar.

It will never ever be the same as the Misa ng Sambayanang Pilipino, which is ILLEGAL and a LITURGICAL ABUSE since it was NEVER EVER APPROVED by the Holy See!

Priests of Jesus Christ!

Give to the people ransomed by the precious blood of the Lamb the kind of worship of the Heavenly Father they so deserve!

We have too much entertainment on TV!

Stop it there!

Do your role!  Do what you were ordained to do!

You were meant to do HOLY THINGS!

Stop making the Holy Mass as if it were your own entertainment production!

BREAKING NEWS! Another Filipino bishop passes away

Bishop-Emeritus Protacio Gungon of Antipolo (the first bishop of the diocese) has passed away.

Please pray for the eternal repose of the soul of the good bishop.

Let us Pray for Priests

Rappler is once more at it.

A scathing article was published earlier this week against Fr. Aliño of Cubao Diocese.

This blog is not taking sides. All I ask from the readers is to pray for priests in particular Fr. Aliño who is found, below, celebrating his 30 years as a priest.

WHICH part of the Holy Mass is this supposed to be?

Or is this outside Mass, just around an altar?

But I see an altar in the background. So what is this table with flowers?

I am perplexed. Can anybody help me?

BREAKING NEWS!!! Paul VI to be beatified in October 2014?

Well placed sources in the Holy See have informed me that Venerable Paul VI will probably be beatified on October 19, after the Synod of Bishops.

Take this with a grain of salt.  Only Pope Francis can set the date but this is the date going around the rumor mills in the Vatican.

So is the Holy See in a rush to place in the altars the so-called Vatican II popes?

How about this pope?

No, can do?  Why?  We need the radical Jews and history-revisionists to give their assent before he gets beatified?

Since when did people of other faiths have a say in who we beatify, huh?

GULP Exam: Spot the Not

In the name of INCULTURATION, the Salesians of Batulao had their male altar servers wear a 'magsasaka' outfit, and their female 'altar servers' a baro't saya.

Can you and I identify ourselves in THIS culture? WHAT IN THE WORLD WERE THEY THINKING?

GULP Alert: Guess what this is.

Used during Holy Thursday.

No kidding.

As stated in this blog where the photo came from.

New Schedule in Baclaran

The Redemptorist Parish in Baclaran posted a new schedule of their Liturgical Celebrations.

BREAKING NEWS: "Maria Divine Mercy" messages "are in contradiction with Catholic theology"

From the official website of the Archdiocese of Dublin, Ireland.

Requests for clarification have been coming to the Archdiocese of Dublin concerning the authenticity of alleged visions and messages received by a person who calls herself “Maria Divine Mercy” and who may live in the Archdiocese of Dublin.

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin wishes to state that these messages and alleged visions have no ecclesiastical approval and many of the texts are in contradiction with Catholic theology.

These messages should not be promoted or made use of within Catholic Church associations.

This is "Maria Divine Mercy"

Among her "messages" are:
  • Pope Benedict XVI is the "last Pope on earth, Benedict XVI, chosen by Me [Jesus] to lead My Church during the last days" (source).
  • Pope Benedict would be forced from office: "Pope Benedict XVI, will be ousted from the Holy See in Rome" (source).
  • This will be due to a plan that was launched "within the corridors of the Vatican" (source).
  • Now that he has resigned, "They will now try to kill him . . . They will say that he was guilty of a crime of which he is totally innocent" (source).
  • In Pope Benedict's place, a new antipope will be elected: "The false prophet will now take over the Seat in Rome" (source). "[T]hey will bring God’s children under the rule of the little horn, who will sit in pompous splendour in the Seat of Peter" (source).
  • This antipope will announce a plan to merge world religions: "Seated in the Chair of Peter, this imposter will shout aloud and proudly proclaim his solution to unite all churches as one Hailed as a modern innovator, he will be applauded by the secular world because he will condone sin. He will bring in new laws, which will, not only contradict the Teachings of the Catholic Church, but which will go against all Christian laws" (source).
Was Pope Benedict forced to resign?

Last I heard he resigned willingly, and he lives peacefully in the Vatican.

The next time someone comes over you and tells you the world is ending and that Maria Divine Mercy said so.

Tell them.

FACE Palm Sunday

What logical reason is behind the use of a power water hose to bless the palms?

And this is what now???

It's supposed to be an altar of repose for the Holy Thursday vigil.

It was the historic Barasoain Church's Altar of Repose for Holy Thursday.

Pray for the parish priest of Barasoain Church.  He died on the night of Holy Wednesday.

Stop making conclusions about this "altar" and his death.

Pray for his eternal repose.

And pray for liturgical stupidity to stop.

Sense of the Sacred, please!

Picture found on the internet.

Lent continues with GULP reports. These posts will make you cringe and suffer because of the abuses done in the name of INCULTURATION.

A stone's throw away from Santo Niño de la Paz Chapel, Greenbelt, a Calvary Scene was set up, encouraging prayer and meditation.

I will let these photos sent to this blog by a reader to speak for themselves.

Snarky, idiotic, anti-clerical post from the former Chairman of the National Historical Institute

Ambeth Ocampo was the former chairman of the National Historical Institute and the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts.  He is a historian and an academician.

But this kind of a clear and obvious anti-clerical comment on his Facebook account just shows his real colors.

Maybe next time, he'll recommend those going to the vin d'honneur at Malacanang to dress in their shorts and bikinis!

Can he even show any proof that the Church even wanted all women to wear veils and men to wear tunics like those in sacred images.

Does wearing the write dress for the right occasion a medieval thing nowadays?

Does decency and propriety not in the books of the National Commission for CULTURE and the Arts?

PS:  He must be thinking of the cosplayers and adult perpetually obsessed to serve as Altar Boys/MC for eternity guys.

No.  Catholic bishops and priests and even the laity just want to return decency and propriety when dressing for the church.

Can he even make that same stupid sanrky remark agains the Mormons and the Iglesia ni Cristo version ni Manalo?

He wouldn't dare get a visit from the private armies of Manalo, no?

Supreme Court decision on RH actually favors Pro-lifers

Which simply means, contraceptives that have a primary and secondary mechanism to kill the fertilized ovum is UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Goodbye IUD!

Goodbye pills!

DKT, the maker of Trust condoms and pills and injectables, admits what their pills do!

Take note what is encircled.

"Trust pill stops ovulation, thins the lining of the uterus and thickens the cervical mucus. In combination, these actions prevent pregnancy."  (emphasis mine)

Take note the words thins the lining of the uterus.

The thinning of the uterine wall prevents the fertilized ovum from being implanted and become viable.

That exposes the strategy of Edcel Lagman in the first place!  For him, life begins at implantation, but the Supreme Court does not buy that.

The SC then effectively struck down the provision of RH that says:

"At this juncture, the Court agrees with ALFI that the authors of the
RH-IRR gravely abused their office when they redefined the meaning of
abortifacient. The RH Law defines "abortifacient" as follows:
SEC. 4. Definition of Terms. - For the purpose of this Act, the following terms shall be defined as follows:
(a) Abortifacient refers to any drug or device that induces abortion or the destruction of a fetus inside the mother's womb or the prevention of the fertilized ovum to reach and be implanted in the mother's womb upon determination of the FDA.
Section 3.0l(a) of the IRR, however, redefines "abortifacient" as:
Section 3.01 For purposes of these Rules, the terms shall be defined as follows:
a) Abortifacient refers to any drug or device that primarily induces abortion or the destruction of a fetus inside the mother's womb or the prevention of the fertilized ovum to reach and be implanted in the mother's womb upon determination of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). [Emphasis supplied]
Again in Section 3.0lG) of the RH-IRR, "contraceptive," is redefined,
j) Contraceptive refers to any safe, legal, effective and scientifically proven modern family planning method, device, or health product, whether natural or artificial, that prevents pregnancy but does not primarily destroy a fertilized ovum or prevent a fertilized ovum from being implanted in the mother's womb in doses of its approved indication as determined by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The above-mentioned section of the RH-IRR allows "contraceptives" and recognizes as "abortifacient" only those that primarily induce abortion or the destruction of a fetus inside the mother's womb or the prevention of the fertilized ovum to reach and be implanted in the mother's womb.
This cannot be done.
In this regard, the observations of Justice Brion and Justice Del Castillo are well taken. As they pointed out, with the insertion of the word "primarily," Section 3.0l(a) and G) of the RH-IRR173 must be struck down for being ultra vires.
Evidently, with the addition of the word "primarily," in Section 3.0l(a) and G) of the RH-IRR is indeed ultra vires. It contravenes Section 4(a) of the RH Law and should, therefore, be declared invalid. There is danger that the insertion of the qualifier "primarily" will pave the way for the approval of contraceptives which may harm or destroy the life of the unborn from conception/fertilization in violation of Article II, Section 12 of the Constitution. With such qualification in the RH-IRR, it appears to insinuate that a contraceptive will only be considered as an "abortifacient" if its sole known effect is abortion or, as pertinent here, the prevention of the implantation of the fertilized ovum.
For the same reason, this definition of "contraceptive" would permit the approval of contraceptives which are actually abortifacients because of their fail safe mechanism.174
Also, as discussed earlier, Section 9 calls for the certification by the FDA that these contraceptives cannot act as abortive. With this, together with the definition of an abortifacient under Section 4 (a) of the RH Law and its declared policy against abortion, the undeniable conclusion is that contraceptives to be included in the PNDFS and the EDL will not only be those contraceptives that do not have the primary action of causing abortion or the destruction of a fetus inside the mother's womb or the prevention of the fertilized ovum to reach and be implanted in the mother's womb, but also those that do not have the secondary action of acting the same way.
Indeed, consistent with the constitutional policy prohibiting abortion, and in line with the principle that laws should be construed in a manner that its constitutionality is sustained, the RH Law and its implementing rules must be consistent with each other in prohibiting abortion. Thus, the word "primarily" in Section 3.0l(a) and G) of the RH-IRR should be declared void. To uphold the validity of Section 3.0l(a) and G) of the RH-IRR and prohibit only those contraceptives that have the primary effect of being an abortive would effectively "open the floodgates to the approval of contraceptives which may harm or destroy the life of the unborn from conception/fertilization in violation of Article II, Section 12 of the Constitution."
To repeat and emphasize, in all cases, the "principle of no abortion" embodied in the constitutional protection of life must be upheld.

The Supreme Court effectively banned contraceptives that have secondary abortive mechanisms, something which the contraceptive pill has.

And with this decision, this is how the pro-RH group reacted.

So who is the real winner in the SC decision?

The unborn!

Because the SC has decided that contraceptives that kill the fertilized ovum or prevent the fertilized ovum from being implanted in the uterine wall are all abortifacients and are therefore in violation of the Constitutional provision of protection of life!

Beware folks!

Lagman et al will try to change this Constitutional provision.

Make no mistake about it.

The devil does not sleep.
