BREAKING!!! NEW ARCHBISHOP OF MANILA

I have received reliable news that the next archbishop of Manila will be none other than...

His Grace, Most Rev. Angel N. Lagdameo, D.D.
Archbishop of Jaro, Iloilo

He follows in the footsteps of his predecessor, the late Jaime Cardinal Sin, who himself was a former Archbishop of Jaro prior to his appointment to the See of Manila.

Now, all it needs is the confirmation of the Holy Father.

  2. If this is true, then the new man to occupy the See of Manila should understand what liturgical diversity in Catholic unity means.

  5. I think TPC you should also comment or at least write an article/comment concerning this new threat that Rorate has been spreading. The destruction of SP.

  6. I know about it Postmodernist. I am just waiting for the opportune moment. I know the facts.

Just heed the advise of Fr. Z:

"Pray and Fast!" pray especially to the Holy Father's guardian angel. The pope has wolves in sheep's clothing surrounding him!

  7. Bad news for the Ordinariates too. I heard that There are some in Rome and Canterbury who believe that there should be just one ordinariate period. The one in England.

  8. Is he traditional bishop? or just another modernist?

  9. As far as I know. Archbishop Lagdameo is more on doctrines of the church. But he didn't celebrate the TLM in the archdiocese.

  10. - tEd: It's true in your archdiocese I haven't heard that this Archbishop didn't celebrate TLM. Even our Bishop of the Diocese of Bacolod did not even do it.

I've seen this Archbishop in person before when I visited Iloilo, The way he celebrates mass was Christ Centered. But I hope he will choose better liturgists this time if he will be chosen by the Pope.

In Jaro Cathedral I'm not sure but I think they are not using the Benedictine style Altar arrangement compared to Cebu.

Would Bp. Alminaza Replace him? or they will choose another Bishop to run the Archdiocese of Jaro.

But I hope that the Holy Father will still decide who will really run the RCAM.

  11. Archbishop Lagdameo has "tried" to offer the TLM three times, most recently on September 11, 2007 in the Carmel of Lipa. I said "tried" because his grasp of the ceremonies and rubrics of the TLM were very hazy... but at least, he tried, and he should get credit for that. Yes, the Masses were all valid. I was his server for the last Mass.

Under Msgr. Piamonte and his successor Msgr. Lagdameo, the Archdiocese of Jaro was the ONLY diocese or archdiocese in the entire Catholic Church in the Philippines to have a "LEGAL" indult TLM from the 1990's until 2007, when Summorum Pontificum replaced the indult system.

  12. Maybe we'll have a better chance of having the TLM at the Manila Cathedral, Pascal!

  13. If it's true that Archbishop Angel N. Lagdameo will be the next Archbishop of Manila, it's a good news! Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales was 71 years old when he succeeded the late Jaime Cardinal Sin, Archbishop Lagdameo I think is 70 years old as of now.. still not in the retirement age. On a personal note, he is a native of Quezon Province, my beloved province... to which Archbishop Lagdameo started his priestly ministry... in the Diocese of Lucena. Though it is much anticipated that Archbishop Socrates Villegas will be succeeding Cardinal Rosales, I think a mature and more experienced pastoral bishop like that of Archbishop Lagdameo has the edge to handle the Archdiocese of Manila. Anyway, Archbishop Soc is still young... after Archbishop Lagdameo, I think he would be next...
