This is an ordination presided by the cardinal-archbishop of Manila, Gaudencio Rosales. What is wrong in the picture? He is not wearing his pallium! I have seen photos of the cardinal a number of times not wearing his pallium during ordinations. Some of the photos of the archdiocese's website are not available anymore. Here is an entry regarding the use of the pallium from the Catholic Encyclopedia:"The pope may use the pallium at any time. Others, even archbishops, may use it only in their respective dioceses, and there only on the days and occasions designated in the "Pontificale" (Christmas, the Circumcision, and other specified great feasts; during the conferring of Holy Orders, the consecration of abbots, etc.), unless its use is extended by a special privilege."
Another proof that the cardinal knows less of liturgical norms and leaves it up to the dynamic duo of Chupungco-Diwa to take care of the liturgical "creativity". Hmmmm...
Is it really a must? I'd like to see the law that says, "Archbishops MUST ALWAYS wear the pallium during ordination." What I see from the quote is "may" not "must."
